Your problem is either with your power supply or motherboard, but being as it boots somtimes and then dosent, and not even a beep, then the power supply would be the main cause, i sugest taking the power supply out of the computer and taking it to your local pc store, ask them if they could test it for you before you buy a new one. hope this helps.

Agree, the power supply is bad . Its very easy to change and Acer uses a universal design power supply you can get at Fry's or Comp USA. Get at least a 400 watt. Take your old one with you to match the physical size to be on the safe side. If you can use a screwdriver, you can do this yourself.

Reset bios on acer aspire e380

Hi,

You can reset BIOS setting by CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battery, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will clear the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battery & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

If the computer still does not boot, then it needs repair.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Hi, i have an Acer aspire 5930g Laptop. When I try to boot this comes: Yukon v6.14.1.2(beta)(20070307) ... pxe-e61media test failure, check cable pxe-mof exiting pxerom operating system not found What to...

hi,
PXE is an ability to boot from a network server for your operating system. and machine will tend to fall back on this as a last resort to find bootable media (IE the hard drive with an operating system on it.) so it would appear that if that message comes up and it doesn't do anything further, then your hard drive is either disconnected/ bad/ or infected badly. on a rare occasion the machines bios could wig out and remove the setting to even try to boot of the hard drive leaving a PXE boot only. this is rare but could happen. I would suggest you boot the system up and access bios. to check for the presence of a hard drive and the boot order setting to include a hard drive. the esasiest test is to connect a cdrom with and operating system cd on it. and see if it boots to that if so. you have most likely got a bad hard drive.

Hope this helps

I can't get my Acer aspire e380 to accept another

How many slots for RAM in the motherboard?

If there are 4 slots, are the slots equally-spaced, or are they located as two pairs of slots, with a gap between the 3rd and 4th slot?

Some computers _REQUIRE_ RAM only in the 1st and 3rd slots, or only in the 2nd and 4th slots.

Some computers "beep" when 3 out of the 4 RAM slots are populated.

Some computers require the size of the RAM in the 1st slot to match the size of the RAM in the 3rd slot,
and the size of the RAM in the 2nd slot to match the size of the RAM in the 4th slot.

Does your computer "beep" when one stick is in the first slot, and the other slots are empty? How much RAM on that stick?

Does your computer "beep" when one stick is in the second slot, and the other slots are empty? How much RAM on that stick?

Does your computer "beep" when one stick is in the third slot, and the other slots are empty? How much RAM on that stick?

Does your computer "beep" when one stick is in the fourth slot, and the other slots are empty? How much RAM on that stick?

Does your computer "beep" when one stick is in the first slot and a matching stick is in the third slot, and the other slots are empty? How much RAM on those sticks?

VGA No Signal. Tower will not boot up. Continually beeping

Oops if you have a continually beeping bios it's extremely likely that there is a fault with the Power supply unit and this will need replacing which is easy enough

Acer Aspire E380

Uw systeem erkent niet de harde schijfaandrijving. Het is zeer mogelijk dat sinds XP CD niet de harde aandrijving die de aandrijving zelf heeft ontbroken zal zien en zal moeten worden vervangen.
