Toshiba Sattelite A10

Hi, I have a Toshiba Sattelite A10. I not sure I want to bury it just yet.
It was having trouble starting up. It mentioned something to do with not enough power and with many attempts it would eventually power up.
Now she's a no more good to me. Nothing starting at all. The fan has been noisey and it may have had something to do with overheating but I am thinking power supply. Anyone had any experience with this problem and is it fixable?

Thanks

Yes its fixable. Fan noise is most the time related to excessive usage of CPU resources. Best thing is to uninstall unnecessary applications. Do complete maintenance. Remove no essential startup items by using MSCONFIG.
Also you can use Disk Clean up

Please post if you need further assistance. Good Luck

Hard drive from gateway solo pro 40 gig will it work in toshiba

I'm pretty sure it will. The only thing is that Gateways of that generationn used a custom connector which plugs onto the hard disks standard IDE / ATA connector.Just pull this extra connector off and you can use the disk in any machine.
Also ,Toshiba used similar adapters,so if Toshiba's using one on your model, then you'll need to palce the toshiba adapter onto the hard disk from your Gateway. You may also have to go into your BIOS ,and make sure the BIOS recognizes the disk if your BIOS isn't already set to "auto detect".

DVD CD-R drive does not recognize a blank CD on toshiba sattelite

Try this before you enter disk.
  1. setup software or files to transfer when prompted to enter CDR, then place in drive.
  2. Or open my computer, select cd drive right click select, format disk. When prompt comes up for disk insert CDR.
Some systems have trouble with other manufactured formatted disk.

SYSTEM SETUP OR BOOT MENU FOR TOSHIBA A40

Restart the computer,

Right after the Toshiba logo appears start tapping the F8 key.

You will get an option to start in Safe Mode.

Select this option and let the computer start in Safe Mode.

If given the option you will want to log in as Administrator.

After you are logged in you will want to go to the Control Panel and then click on the Users link.

Select your account and choose to remove the password.

Reboot the computer and you should be able to access your account.
