SOURCE: Porta Band saw blade jumps off

I had this problem on a used model 725 that I bought. Apparently the rubber tires on the drive wheels develop a bit of a memory after sitting for a while with tension on the blade. I tried cleaning the tires to no avail. Then I removed both tires, flipped them over and re-installed. Still not fixed. Then I put only one back to the original position and the problem was solved. Other than the frustration of trying several times, I was out nothing and I got quite proficient at taking the blade in and out. The saw has worked fine ever since. I hope this simple (and free) solution works for you.

SOURCE: Scroll saw Model 572.247200 need manual or at

According to the Sears web site, your sroll saw uses the #8030 blades, which have been replaced with #5088029. These are available from any Sears store or online at the following link, see item #31 or 31A, priced at $4.00

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=+572.247200+&productCategoryId=0744440&brandId=0247&modelName=CRAFTSMAN-15-INCH-MOTORIZED-SCROLL-SAW%2FSANDER&diagramPageId=00001&documentId=00033222&pop=flush

It would appear that the owners manual for your scroll saw has been discontinued and is no longer available (Sears #405015) But the line drawing and parts list may be of some value to you, should you need to do any repairs later on.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Can't see how to remove blade guard on older craftsman 10" radial arm saw to change blades also right or left thread??

The saw I own has a thumbscrew-like shaft protruding from the area where the blade guard rests over arbor of the saw, and you simply turn that thumbscrew to loosen the clamp that holds guard on the end of the motor housing, then lift the guard up and over the blade. (After unplugging, of course.)
I don't remember which way it's threaded, but it should be pretty apparant after you take the guard off, as you can see the threads sticking out about 3/4" beyond the lock nut. This allows for the use of dado sets, etc. on the radial arm saw.
By the way, you might be able to find a manual for your saw, if you can find the model number stamped on the plate, by looking at this site.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

The pot metal in front of thequick release tension lever has broken and fell out. can I still use the saw If not where do I go to get another one 1830 120v 18inch scroll saw dremel

I believe the part you are looking for is called a "locking rod" dremel part number 2610922661, this is the black painted pot metal that is about 3" long attached to the upper arm rocker with a parallel pin, and the flip clamp (blade tensioning assembly) or it could be the small piece attached to the tension assembly that the blade attaches to which is silver and called the "blade holder assembly-top" part number 2610922683. I would recommend ordering both directly from Dremel CS 1-800-437-3635. I broke the locking rod on mine. I emailed dremel, and they emailed me back the next morning with a schematic, and parts list. I bought 2 and paid $10.41 total.

How to change the blade on a craftsman scroll saw? The manual was been misplaced when we moved

You might be able to find the manual on the Sears site (this can be a frustrating search - but start with the model number). But even without the manual, this is pretty easy on most scroll saws. There is usually a plastic knob (about the size of a ketchup bottle lid) on top of the machine at the back. You loosen this knob a couple of turns (to the left) and the blade will become very loose. The blade is probably the "pin-end" type - it will have a little cylinder about a 1/4 inch long on each end of the blade. You can buy new blades at any home improvement or hardware store. Besides qualtiy, the main differences will be the length of the blade and the size of the teeth (expressed as TPI or Teeth Per Inch). You need more TPI for cutting harder and thinnner materials, less TPI for softer and thicker material. Put the new blade in like the old one was (teeth pointing down) and tighten the plastic knob. It's hard to be sure how tight is should be, since it doesn't suddenly tighten up. About a 1/4 turn past where is starts to get noticeably tighter is a reasonable place to start. If the blade pops off during use, it wasn't tight enough.

I bought a delta scroll saw model number 40-540, the blade was broken. I need to know how to change the blade and what type of blade the saw takes. Thank you

your delta scroll saw has two blade attachment points one under the table and one in the arm. attach under the table first and then in the arm. that way you can be sure to adjust the tension properly.

there are only two styles of scroll saw blade, those with pins and straight blades without pins

look carefully at your saw and you will be able to see which type holder you have
