Why is Philips Boombox not working from mains without batteries?

When you plug a cord into a two pin connector that I assume is on the side of the box, it should disconnect the batteries inside. If taking the batteries out kills the power completely with the cord still attached, then the switch on the power socket in the unit is NOT connecting the built-in power supply.

Hello, thank you for sharing your problem with us, I would personally be happy to provide the most accurate and up to date information for you.

1. It appears that the system is out of warranty, lets try a few things to start off with

2. Check the power cord for obvious damage, ie. dog bite marks, damage to either side of the plug from wear and tear

3. Try to plug your system into a completely different outlet, preferrably one that you know for a fact works, ie. A lamp comes on etc.

4. Check all buttons on your system and attempt to power it on

5. If your still having problems with no power, please return for fast expert solutions.

My lasonic ghetto blaster won't come on

Make sure the switch on the back is on the correct power setting. The cord is AC and the input is DC. On batteries, switch it to DC and use tinfoil or copper wire on the left top U shaped + battery receptor. on mine, it didnt connect with batteries without metal there

Remote not working

You can use any digital camera or camcorder in order to check the remote control. Direct the remote (press any button) in direction of camera lens. If remote works you will see the bright spot on your camera screen. If you need more info please advice.
