Hello jdshine,

If the hose is collapsing with the vacuum on, then there is an obstruction somewhere in the hose or where it connects to the vacuum. If you have access to another vacuum cleaner, you try to free up that obstruction by using the second vacuum to pull out the obstacle/clog. Other options are to detach the hose from the vacuum and clean it out with a coat hanger or equivalent. Hope that helps...

A Dyson dc 17 Animal and the wand/hose has lost suction

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine, switch it on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its good here, then you know that the wand handle is blocked.

For the full diagnostics, check out the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com or call our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

Kind regards
Darran

My bissell 3120-3 is not sucking up dirt

if the vacuum is not sucking up dirt first check the hose to see if there is suction if you dont have suction there you need to follow the hose to the nearest connection remove the hose from there using screwdriver or some models will twist off check to see if there are any blockages, make sure the bag is not full if so replace bag with new one if needed, if bagless or if that dosent resolve the problem remove the cover plate for the roller, remove the roller and check the suction port that routes the dirt and debris to the dirt cup or the bag. you will just need to check all of the different routes to the bag or dirt cup, the best thing to have is a blower and you can blow through the different passways untill the clog is blown out, thanks I am sure that this info will help everyone if in alb visit the Vacuum Doctor, Don the doctor is always in!!!!!!!!!!!!

My upright kenmore progressive vacuum will not suction up when using the sweeper. It will suction things when I use one of the tools. I have put in a new bag and have tried to see if anything is blocking...

I believe on the front top part of the vacuum is a cover. you need to take it off. behind it you will find at least two filters. You will need to replace the hepa filter and the other one should be like a thin black sponge, you can just wash that one.
If its not that then there are two clips on either side of the base of the vacuum. Pull those clips outwards, then lift the top off, you will see the tube that the hose attaches to. Pull the hose off and check for debris in there.
I hope that works for you.

good luck

FLexible hose has no suction

It is possible that the hose at the base has deformed under suction and is blocking the airflow. I have found this to be the case on mine. Air is being drawn in from a bypass valve near the base and to the left of the hose so it makes a suction noise but does not have any pull at the nozzle.
