USB port getting HOT

I have an HP Pavillion dv6000 with three USB ports. The one on the left (1st one) made my transciever get EXTREMELY hot. I've moved it to the other port (2nd one on that side). What could cause that? What would be the fix?

These ports can get quite hot & things attached can draw up to 1 Amp of current, and this can make things quite warm over time... as it draws heat away from the device. Keep an eye on it though.

After reading the description, I think you need to try updating BIOS and latest device drivers for USB. Because USB are getting power on that means there would not be any fault to from the motherboard.

So please try updating latest BIOS for your notebook.
If you can provide me the product no for your notebook and the operating system which you are using currently then I can find the one for you.

Otherwise you can also do the same.

Type in the product no. on www.hp.com. Then go to software and driver download page, select the proper OS and search in BIOS ROM pack available for your notebook.

I hope this will help.

Go to Printers . Put curser over the Printer icon . Press Right button on mouse . Go to bottom of meue PROPERTIES> when open at top menue selct ports. Configure port. other approach deleat printer and reinstall new printer. during set up will ask what port. USB sometimes uses virtual printing Ports. Another aproach is if USB ..Just pull cable from computer and stick in some other USB port forcing computer to reload driver to that port.

They are right, some DVs have this problem. If you can live without the ports, then do it. If you can't, replacement is the only option.

Targus Travel USB 2.0 4-Port Hub with Notebook Light

Hello,

I'm sorry to tell you your hub cannot be fixed. I have one just like it and have taken these things apart and repaired simple factory errors as loose wires and the such.

You should get yourself another Targus brand USB hub. They are good and quite reliable

Worldvet.
