The very first thing to check is the vents. Do a thorough cleaning of the interior. Next, while you have the cover off run it and pay attention to the fan. Is it running smoothly or sound labored. It should also kick into a higher speed when it heats up. While you are doing then you can then check your lamp hours as previously suggested. Low lamp hours remaining will cause this to shut down as described.

It is possible that there is a lamp failure or it keeps overheating and automatically shutting down.

The projectors usually keep a fan running for a cool down time after the switch is turned off. It's possible that there is that there is a burn mark on the bulb or other part due the sudden power drop. At least have good look at the bulb and immediate area to see if there is any sign of visible damage.

My sony kp-53v35 keeps immediately shutting itself off

Older model---it should when you try to turn it on have the red light blink for several seconds (set is checking things inside) and if comes on and shuts off that light should blink a specific sequence of blinks----5 blinks and repeat it endlessly---

I have a stupid question: when it first failed did you hear a small pop or smell a faint odor of something burning?

Lamp is burned out or makes a popping sound.
When the lamp reaches its end of life, it may burn out and may make a loud popping sound.
If this occurs, the projector does not turn back on. To replace the lamp, see on page 38.

Dell 2300 MP temp light flashes and projector turns off.

I am experiencing a similar problem with mine. It will cycle on and off without actually powering up fully and then after about the 4th or 5th time it will shut off completely and the lamp indicator light on top illuminates. i am reading in other blogs that this is a design flaw on this unit. let me know if you have found any fixes.

My projector keeps restarting on it's own

it will do that if you didn't let it go through a complete shut down cycle. also, once it's on, reset the settings to factory default.

remove lamp. put in freezer for 5 minutes. reinstall. when unit comes on go in menu and select lamp settings. reset to zero hours. it fixed mine. every month or two i have to do it again but its better then a new lamp plus check air filter

What would cause the green lights to come on, then the lamp light flashes without turning on the lamp? The lamp is showing 1240 hours remaining. Have tried unplugging projector to reset with no results.

possibly hasn't been able to complete cooldown mode. if you unplug it before it shuts down completely, it'll turn on by itself when you plug it in and complete the cooldown. once it stops by itself, it'll work fine.

This is bad. You need to either be under warranty on these big screen TVs or get the service manual. Especially since this is an off brand.
