I GOT MINE 02/14/2008 IT'S THE 8 GIG VERSION..BUT MY COMPUTER CAN'T
FIND A DRIVE FOR IT ON THE DISK IT CAME WITH PLUS...IT DOES NOT
HAVE ONE PRE-INSTALLED IN IT. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING AND NOTHING
WORKED..I AM USING WIN XP PRO...
Assuming you mean to say a "driver" rather than "drive" you probably have a corruption in your XP drivers database (in lack of a better term. If you google enough you will find the solution for fixing it but for now you can easily get around this when you connect clix it will ask you to find it automatically say no and point to c:\windows\system32\drivers or c:\windows\inf and let it search there. It should find the right driver after a brief search.

Set your computer up so that you & your brother have different user accounts on your computer. This can be done via parental controls in windows Vista & xp (parental controls> create user). Once you do that, download the most recent itunes. You'll see itunes on both user accounts
Be sure to back up your music or you'll both have to create new libraries. When you sync your ipods, itunes will automatically recognizw which model ipod you have & update the software accordingly. I have my wife, both kids & I have all our ipods synced on 1 computer this way (Gen 3 30 gig, 2 gen 2 nanos, & a shuffle).
If your iPod is not showing up then it is under unknown devices or there is a defect in the software of your iPod. Go to an Apple store and they will fix it for free under the warranty or give you a new one.
I had the same problem and it turns out the firmware did get loaded, the program just didn't close out properly. If you go to Settings & Info-->Information on your DJ you should see that it is the updated version.
