I have a 2004 dodge 2500, one day all the speakers quit at once, however the stereo still comes on . What's the problem?

Radio switches on so not a power problem. No speakers work and not just one or two so extremely unlikely to be a wiring break as that would only take out an individual speaker at a time. Could be a connection fault. Have you pulled a wire or some cables and somehow pulled away a connector behind the radio or under the dash in the loom? Might be worth a check there but if not then it is looking like a fault with the unit itself. Do you have another radio that you can try, or can you try your radio in another vehicle?
Sorry if I have said the obvious, but it really is a question of elimination.

2004 Infiniti G35 coupe w/ bose stereo. When the radio is playing, all of the speakers work. When I am listening to a cd, all work but the drivers door speaker. You can hit a bump, and it might come...

it sounds to me like maybe just a loose wire on the speaker itself. The radio could for some reason feed the speaker using a different wire, but that would be kind of redundant. I would take the inner door panel off and check the wires on the door speaker, pull on them a little and see if any are loose. If they are, you should be able to just solder it. Let me know if this is the case, if not, we can troubleshoot it further. Good Luck

One speaker no sound

I just want to confirm that the solution on another page from francis 8 works perfectly ( http://www.fixya.com/support/t3709832-speakers_stopped_working_cannot ). We have two sets of Creatures in our offices, one had been shelved (by someone less persevering than me) due to this problem years ago and my set started this trouble a few days ago. Troubleshot everything, every cable, setting, combination, spare speakers etc - nothing worked. Opening the offending speaker and pulling back the metal weight behind the speaker cone was the solution for BOTH of our units.
Big smiles all around :-)
Note - When you've opened the plastic shell and loosened the speaker from its mounting, the the big round metal piece/magnet sits within the actual speaker 'cage', slightly behind the speaker cone. It's tight but movable and can be pulled all the way back as far as it can go inside it's housing, away from the speaker cone.
Not sure why it gets pulled forward, but it isn't fixed in position and so could clearly get bumped by dropping the speaker or a reasonable impact of some sort. Once bumped forward it would severely limit cone movement and therefore volume.

My speakers stopped working. Cannot increase the volume, have to put ear very close to hear a faint sounds

I fixed a similar problem I was having. It requires a little work.

Take out the four screws from under the broken speaker. Carefully remove the cover, separating the speaker from the base. The two are wired together so don't pull them apart with force. Then remove the single screw, which is much larger the the previous four, and separate the speaker from the top cover.

If you chose you can remove the wires from the speaker, they just snap on, but its not required.

What I found is the speaker issue is not with the wire or the power, but the speaker it's self. On the back there is a big round metal piece. On my speaker that piece was pushed towards the front of the speaker. When I looked at the good speaker, that big piece was all the way back. So I simply pulled it back and presto, instant fix!

I hope this works for you.

Car audio issue

You should probably take out the stereo and check the cable connections. If it has been taken out recently and put back in wrong a wire might have been pinched blocking power going to speaker or the wire is shorting out.You might just even have a cable that got burned up somehow. Mike.

Location of reset on unit

when you disconnect it from cables, it resets. But i believe that is not the problem. Check speaker cables. I think you have problem with internal power amps. They have thermal and current protection. look for short circuits on speakers or speaker cables.

I have a jl audio e1200, and everything's been connected correctly. it says that there's power (as indicated by the green LED) but there's no output. what do i do?

Hello codyr25,

First of all, you need to isolate what is causing the problem. No output (sound from the sub) could be a defect in the 1) Wiring, 2) Head unit, 3) Speaker(s), or 4) The amp itself.

Start to systematically eliminate the possible causes. Connect your subs to a known good system. If they work, it's got to be something else. Check the RCA cables from your head unit to the amp. Check the speaker wiring. Check the amp on-board fuses.

Make sure that you have output from the head unit. With multiple RCA jacks, it's possible to plug your cables into an input rather than an output (in the dark, behind the dash). If you have more than 1 set of preamp outs, try another set.

Hope this helps.

Sony STR-DE 605 FLASHES PROTECTION ON READOUT

To all users with this problem:

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.

When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.

Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.

Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.

If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.

In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.

If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local technician.
