Dell i6000 - Pink Screen

Starting a week ago whenever my laptop's LCD would come back from any unpowered state it would have a pink/reddish hue that would gradually fade away to a natural tone.

One night, my screen simply lost power and went black. Rebooting yielded similar results -- it'd first turn pink then power off within seconds of booting.

Turning the brightness down as low as it can go prevents the LCD from shutting off, but everything is tinted a deep pink (and very dark as I have to keep the brightness low). Turning the brightness back up causes the pink to fade away, but the LCD shuts off shortly after.

This has been a great laptop, other than this. I routinely clean it's heatsinks, and it's never given me any trouble.

    DELL INSPIRON 4150 XP, P4 2.00GHz, 512mb, 27GB, DVD+-RW PC NOTEBOOK_

I have a wallpaper set on my desktop that is mostly white...when I turn the brightness all the way down via (fn + up/down key for brightness) the white will turn a light pinkish color (mostly at the bottom of the screen) ...when I turn the brightness all the way back up it goes away within 10 seconds...about a month ago the backlight in the screen completely failed allowing me to see just barely, to reboot the laptop with the backlight still malfunctioning, and perform a system restore...that seemed to bring the backlight back to working order and it hasn't happened since then, although I do still experience "pink screen" with the brightness level all the way down... what does this mean? That you for your time. --Regards

The red hue is usually an indication of the CCFL tube (backlight bulb) going bad. These can usually be bought for under $20 but disassembly of the LCD module to replace them can be quite a pain. Fortunately there are are quite a few places that you can send the panel to and have it repaired for around $100.

You are losing video from the motherboard..could be the video chip, yet this sort of thing can happen with laptops.

,my pc screen is pink

Symptoms line up with video card going out, or more likely screen going out. if you turn off the computer and turn it back on if its immediatly reddish/ pink tint then its your screen. Can be a bit expensive to fix. also could be as simple as the ribbon cable inside became loose, test this theory by lightly shaking the laptop. if the screen goes from good color and back to pinkish then that is your issue and you will need a repair shop if you are not comftable with opening up your machine! Good luck to you

A few months ago, the LCD on my Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop sarted appearing pink on start-up or when returning from the screen saver, then gradually brightening up to normal. About a week ago it stayed...

The symptoms you have described is definitly a faulty CCFL lamp.
If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Dull laptop screen back light

You may have a faulty CCFL lamp. A faulty CCFL lamp may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering and/or with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight or a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp. Usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Screen fliks change calor to pink if i move the screen or shake it it came back

Sounds like the cables between the display and the mainboard inside the laptop are broken and would need to be replaced. Those cables can be hard to locate, you may want to take the laptop to a repairer who can obtain the parts for it, or contact asus if you are still in warranty.

if this is a desktop computer then just replace the cable between the display and the computer.

Not a typical backlight issue

Hi!

You can check the brightness with AC in the BIOS and match it with running in battery or else, when you plug the ac adapter, the lcd goes dim, press and hold the FN buttong and tap the up arrow then reboot and try to see if it will still do it. But still the best way to do it is going to the BIOS by pressing F2 at the Dell logo startup.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Screen goes pink

First, plug a external monitor and toggle the screen to discard configuration or software problems. If the image displays correctly you have a problem either in the LCD screen or its connection cable.
Open the bezel and check for loose or damaged connection cable. Look specially next to the hinge, ON THE LEFT.
In case the problem is not the cable you might have to get a new LCD. You can have replacement parts and instructions here:
