hi their is down time at the moment with sony this problem is happening world wide so dont worry its not a problem with your ps3 just give it time and you should be able to log in no problem ok
Make sure that the file system on the harddisk in FAT32, other file systems are not suported by the PS3. If the file system is not FAT32, the ps3 won't even try to read the disk.
You should reformat your harddisk into fat32, use google to findt a tool that can do the formatting for you becouse windows xp and up are only supporting formating in fat32 up to 40GB.
Alright you need to put your ps3 in what is called "safe mode". First make sure there is no disc in the ps3, then turn off the ps3 in the back(main power switch), turn that switch back on, then hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 3 beeps, then let go, the light will be red, hold the power button again and you will hear 2 beep then a quick double beep, let go of power button and the light should stay green. A menu will appear, try all option working your way up from option 1 until it works. If you go through all 6 option and you are still having issues call 1-800-345-7669 to have your ps3 serviced
try reseting. hold the power button untill it makes a double beep. it will take about 10 to 15 sec. if that does'nt work you have a bad drive loader. good luck
the best bet for you is to ask Sony for service,it looks like the console is having major hardware issues..the only other option is to do a reset but you will lose all data..(u can back up though)
same thing happened to me two days ago, it would play everything but ps3 games. i called sony and they said it would be $150 again (in april i had a yellow light failure) so i looked online and someone suggested reformatting the harddrive and now it works fine......thank god
i have that problem too although mines is 40GB version i thought it was the grand theft auto 4 bug that had fucked it up but now it looks like a sony problem , gonna have to send it back which i really dont want to do
