Question about Sony VAIO VGN-CS260J/P Laptop

2 Answers

The fan goes on, loudly, for no apparent reason. The laptop is not overheated. It goes on and off for a few minutes, and then stops. This will happen a few times a day, and only started recently. My laptop is approximately six months old.

Sony laptops have a thermostat which monitors the heat internally. When it gets too hot, the fan will turn on, when the unit cools back down, it will then turn off. There is nothing to worry about.

Shes overheating and thus goes into emergency mode and shuts down the volume to help cool down the built in amp . Dont know if it has a built in fan (likely not) but its overheating which can be a number of reasons why...from a failed heatsink componet, inadequet venting, shorted circuit. Can you take it out and inspect it?

When I start the car there's a loud sqeeking noise that goes away after 1 minute 2003 es 330

if it was mine, I would buy some "fan belt dressing spray" and spray my fan belts or have them adjusted. first spray them once, if sound stops a few days, have the tension adjusted. if spray does not work the first time, this is not the problem.

Sounds like you are overheating. One way to tell if it's overheating is you say it will run for about 30 minutes then shuts down. When it shuts down try rebooting to see if the boots successfully. If it fails to boot successfully right after it shut down then you are probably overheating. If you wait awhile to let it cool down for 30 minutes or so and if you reboot and it does it successfully you definitely have a overheating problem. If I remember correctly all those compaq sr series have loud and fast running fans. Computers overheat because of three reasons for the most part: 1) A fan has stopped working. 2) The Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heat Sink has dried up or is not thick enough to keep the unit cool. 3) Dust has clogged the fan vents and inside the computer. Fortunately for you desktops don't have to be completely disassembled like laptops to get to the fan, CPU and heatsink. Just pop the case and you'll see the components attached to the motherboard

My acer laptop aspire 4730z just shuts down with no apparent reason..i just cant get rid of it..what seems to be the problem!?

It may be due to overheating. Make sure all air vents are clear of dust. Check that the internal fan is working - usually located under the keyboard. The fan should usually ony come on intermittently, first when you boot up, then intermittently in Windows when the processor is working hard. If the fan is on all the time and especially if it is running fast then your processor is overheating.

If you go into the bios setup and the laptop resets within a few minutes with the fan running fast then you have a definite processor overheating problem. This may be a faulty processor or a fault on the motherboard.

If it is the fan in the power supply, replace the power supply.
The case fan is easily replaced. Measure it (in mm) and purchase a new one. The standard fan is usually 40 mm, I think.

I HAVE P5RD1-VM ASUS BOARD NOW COMPUTER STARTED PROBLEM

Hi,

several reasons for this.

1:) CPU Overheating.
2:) RAM Overheating.
3:) Motherboard Component Overheating.
4:) FAN not operating correctly.

These are a few things that can shutdown a computer after a few minutes, also viruses/trojans et,c.
can shut off hard-drives. and even instruct the bios to change settings.

Check that the CPU And case fans work correctly.

Mike @ compurepair.

try this link...it tells you what the LEDs indicate. Apparently the cover on the back is not sealed properly, my guess is that it is a fan not working properly or some other reason the set is overheating.
