Question about Sterling Plumbing Sterling& Deluxe By-Pass Shower Door

1 Answer

Sterling shower door. May be at least 12 years old. Each door swings in and out and each side also collapses/slides in on itself. Kind of a bi-fold. Current Sterling line does not carry this model. Problem: The bottom right hand hinge has broken. It is a grey plastic piece that the frame sits on with a portion of the part exposed to provide a pivot point for the door. It is labeled E9883. I have searched all over the internet for the part. Sterling web site doesn't have much in the way of part diagrams. I can make this door as good as new with a new piece! Any ideas to source this part?

Start contacting Sterling distributors across the country. They may have that part laying around somewhere.

Ace Hardware sells that door and you will need to see if they can order the parts but it looka like they sell the doors 36" size so when you order you will need to order for the Sterling Plumbing 1500D-36S "Vista Pivot" Shower Door Fits Openings 31 -1/4" To 36" H 66" . Now if you have not completely finished the shower you could always make the door opening fit what you have.

I know this is an old thread but posting the answer for the sake of everyone else who are looking for the same answer. Once you pull the old one out, you can slide the new one right in without having to remove anything else. The RPK2800-S has a T top, so just line it up with the opening on the button of the door and push it in. Basically do the opposit of what you did when pulling the old one out. Easy task and should not take than one minute.

The part # you supplied is for a shower door and has no bearing to your question. There is no relationship. However, I can say there is no adjustment for any two handle shower stem or even single handle stem. Very rarely will just replacing an "O" ring stop a drip unless it it from through the stem itself and comes out under the handle. When in doubt replace the whole stem...shortcuts will only exasperate the problem. There are no shortcuts in plumbing.

Sterling shower stem replacement, anyone know how? I changed it out, hard to turn, and slips at times

Sterling like many others made many different types of faucets and stems. To service any of them you need to remove the handle. Then depending on the type of stem you can make your repairs. Most common Sterling stems were brass. Most common cause of slipping is stripped broach on stem and or handle. The broach is the star shaped part of the stem that the handle slides on. If it is stripped replacing the stem and or handle should do the trick. As for the tighteness of the stem, this could be the packing nut on top being to tight or stem may be damaged. Hope this helps. Please share a vote if it does.

there is a good chance you won't find this part for a number of reasons,...you'd be best to either change the door (with a "basco" door, great company) of if your feeling some oats, make the part you need.

not sure what you mean when inside door "swings" on a "sliding" door,...i'll assume you need the "inside door guide", a little plastic piece that screws with one screw to the main threshold,.....

Spartan brand curved glass shower door installation info needed.

curved cut glass will not always be the exact dimensions though they may look identical there should be several set screws on both the door glass frame and the shower glass frame that can be loosened and reset to make the door fit and close and open more properly without seeing the showwer itself i can not tell you exactly where they are but they should be either visible or behind a facade piece of metal frame
