Question about Bose SoundDock Digital Music System for Apple iPod - White

1 Answer

My Ipod classic 80GB skips only when I am using Bose with music turned up loud. It has gotten worse and worse and volume drops as well. I have restored factory settings to ipod and have used other methods for playback with no skipping, help! I paid too much for Bose for this to happen.

That sounds very reasonable to me, I am going to try it. I also emailed Bose to see if they could help. Thank you for your time!

I understand that if you playback with USB cable, or earphones, it doesnt skip. If it skips only when docked at the Bose, then the contacts either at the Ipod or the receptacle at the dock are dirty, and only comes loose when the loud bass makes it vibrate. When Ipod losses contact, it takes for it a few seconds to relocate the point where it was, and resume playing.
Clean the contacts on both sides with alcohol and an earbud.

Ipod classic 80GB makes a horrible popping noise with sounddock II

Sounds like there might be a loose connection between your iPod and the dock. Firstly make sure there is no dust or grit inside the female 30 pin of the iPod. Also make sure that there is no grit or dust around the male end on the dock. If there is grit or dust (or even if there isn't, some compressed air (you can buy this in a can) will help to clean out the connection. Also make sure that when you dock the iPod, it is seated on the dock properly. You should be able to see if it isn't seating properly. If this doesn't fix it and you are near an apple store, I would recommend taking the problem to them where they will be able to make sure that the iPod isn't causing the problem.

Forgot code need to unlock the volume control on 80gb classic ipod

Either reset the ipod if you have all the music backed up on your computer or, for a complicated way:

Connect it to the PC, and find the device under My Computer. You may have to show hidden files in order for it to come up.
Inside the ipod_control directory there is a device directory. There is a file _locked that can be opened with Notepad. The passcode is inside there.

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.
If you've found a solution, please post it here.

Bose sounddock remote and ipod menu functions

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.

My jbl radial, when using a 120 gig ipod, will skip songs.

Not a solution but mine sometimes causes my ipod to skip mid-song to the next song or podcast as well. JBL customer service is usually good and I've been meaning to check with them since I finally figured out it's the radial and not my ipod.

If it is brand new. It is under warranty. Go back to the store where it was purchased and tell them the problem. They should replace it with another new one. Have them show you how to use it on all of the functions on your Bose Docking Station. Make sure you tell them about the ipod Touch and the iPhone.

How to download songs from computer to Apple ipod classic 80GB

You're going to need iTunes to do this, download it here. Once you've done this you can import all your music and videos to iTunes, and then use it to put your media onto your iPod.
Hope this helps!
