Is there more than just XL Automatic, most model numbers contain a "UT"? You want an operators manual. Most chainsaws start with "H" and "L" at 1.5 CCW from lightly seated. then this: Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.comhttp://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tun... CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly. Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run. There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full ? may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too. HTH Lou

Gas oil mixture

The header says that it is an electric saw which would only require bar oil. A 2-stroke gas engine, however, does require fuel mixed with a modern saw oil at 40:1 ratio plus bar/chain oil in it's own tank as well. Always premix the fuel and oil in a separate can and shake well even before filling the saw. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw gas mixture ratio

An XL from that time frame recommends 32:1 here:

If my saw it would be adjusted for and operate on 50:1.
1 gallon of premium fuel to 2.6 ounces of quality 2-cycle oil.
4 liters of premium fuel to 80 milliliters of quality 2-cycle oil.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Thank you for using FixYa and Good Luck. HTH

Decompression valve for Homeliye XL-700 chain saw.

With the age of the chainsaw and the scarity of available parts, it would be major undertaking to even attempt to install a decomp valve into this chainsaw and the result could end up ruining the saw for good.

If I might make a suggestion that you either sell this, as there are many collectors of classic chainsaws such as the XL-700 and you might do better with a newer saw that is easier to start and use.

Either that, or just accept that starting these older saws are more difficult.

As to the C.U. rating for this saw, it is a 4.7 Cu. Inch displacement.

Here's an online manual wih a parts breakdown and exploded line drawings for the XL-700, in case you want to tinker with the saw.

Hope you found this Very Helpful - Best regards!
