Fan and light constantly on

1. Inspect the power cordUnplug the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
   
2. Bad door switchIf your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary.
   
3. Blown fusesTo determine if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to replace the fuse.
   
4. Bad fan motorLocate the fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the fan has gone bad and requires replacement.
   

1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
   
2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.
   

The door interlock may have failed

HI, this is a faulty control panel. replace asap if possible.

Sounds like you blew a device on the main board when you didn't unplug it first. The whole main timer board must be replaced to repair the unit. Pricey, sorry!!

I left the unit unplugged over night, plugged it back in the next day and still had the same problem.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

I would think you have a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

I'm guessing that nothing is working...is that right? If so, first guess is the breaker or an internal fuse. Nearly all units have them. You don't say what fuse you checked. Unplug the unit, remove the bulb and see what is in the socket. Next, open the breaker and then turn it back on. This will reset it. Something caused this.

I would first suggest that the door switches and door switch mounts be checked, but one of the problems is almost certainly trouble on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

The light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on. Other trouble can occur as well.
