It sounds to me that you have a bad HV/Power Supply Board. Before opening the back of the set, always unplug the set from the wall. If you can check electronic components ( ie: transistors, capacitors, fuses etc ) I suggest you check the Horizontal Output Transistor first. If it's not that transistor, check for cold solder joints ( loose connected parts from the printed circuit board ) and re-solder all bad connections. If the set still doesn't work, you may need to seek professional help, as the problem is more deeply laden and you may need to obtain a schematic to repair the set. I hope this has helped. Good luck on your problem.

Telly on but no sound orpicture

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is XL2100 you can find it here http://www.discount-merchant.com/Sony-XL-2100U-TV-Lamp-p/sony_xl-2100u_replacement_lamp.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!

No picture or sound

Remove the rear panel. With the TV on you should see a red LED near the center of the PCB. There should also be 5 green leds, 3 to the left a 2 behind. If there is no red leds, check the fuses. If there are no green leds or maybe 1 or 2, disconect PSD5. It's a connector on the left side of the power board that connects to the audio board. It's the 3rd on fro the back. It's labled. With that disconected, turn on the set and look for the green leds. If all 5 light, the power supply is OK and you have a problem beyond that. If they don't all light you have a bad power supply.
