Two things:

first ensure that the wireless on the router is enabled
if you have nto done so linksys by default is 192.168.1.1 to set it up.

make sure that the wireless on your laptop is turned on. My IT departments gets no less than 5 tickets a week and the root cause in most is the user forgot to turn the wireless back on.

Was working ok then internet down and red light on router constant - have done the turn off turn on routine and reset router to no avail. have also plugged indirectly to computer - green light then comes...

Try rebooting both the modem and the router. It could be that the modem didn't pick up it's ip number when the internet went down. Then try pluggint you computer directly into the modem first to make sure it is setup and working properly. Then plug in the router (to the modem) and the PC plugged in directly to the router and check.

Once you have it connecting at that point then check the wireless settings on both the router and the pc. Then enable the wireless on the pc, unplug the LAN and switch to wireless network on the pc and see if it won't work.

If it works plugged in on the LAN but then not on the wireless then either your configuration isn't correct (ie wrong gateway ip number...gateway should be the same ip number as the router...ie 192.168.***.***) or perhaps the wireless part of the router died. It is possible for the wireless to die and the LAN (hard wired connection) to still work.

Hi im trying to get my wireless to work on my lap tops and i can not get to work on them can you help me plz thankyou

If there is several computers that cannot connect wireless to the internet, you have to check out you wireless router. First of all, you should try to unplug the power for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in and check if it is working. If not, you should try to connect a computer directly to the wireless router, if possible, with a network cable. If that is working, then it is something wrong with the wireless settings, perhaps interference. If that is not working, you should try to connect directly to the internet with a cable, use the cable that is connected to your wireless router. Plug it into the computer instead of to the wireless router. If that is working, there is probably something wrong with your wireless router, and you should get a new one or deliver it to repairing. If the direct connection dont work, you probably would need to call your ISP (internet service provider). I hope this would be of any help for you, and dont be afraid to ask if you need more information.

Need help, router will not connect. The internet service road runner is working when I plug directly in computer but through the router it won't activate. This router has been working for over a year now...

Try unplugging the power from Road Runner modem and disconnect the computer or router. Then only plug in the power to the router and plug in the power to the modem.

If this does not work, try resetting the modem's config to factory defaults by sticking a paperclip end into the reset button hole in the back while powering it up. hold the buttin in for atleast 15 seconds while the router restarts. then retry the first suggestion.

Router seems to not be working. when I connect modem line directly to computer i have internet connectivity but none through router. any suggestions?

Install the latest wireless card driver in the computer/laptop.
Try turning if off for 15 secs and power it up, are all the LEDs on?
Check the wireless settings on the wireless card in the computer, does it match the wireless router's settings?

D-link wireless wont work after high speed disconnect.

it's pretty easy to remedy...
1. turn off all computers including wi fi laptops... turn off routers, modem, wifi router as well.
Here's the trick:
Turn on your main router... the one that is plugged direct to your modem.
turn this on before anything else... once it's booted up, turn on your modem... it will cycle up and find the first ip address which will be your router that was turned on previously...
Then turn on all the other routers, wifi computers.... the main router should give all the other equipment their addresses automatically and you should have wireless working at that point...

Good luck... let me know if it gets you up and running.

Can't connect WGPS606 wireless printer server to cable router

suggest plugging print server directly into p.c via blue ethernet cable during setup. Then run setup program and then pick an ip address that works with your router (in same network ip range of router) that does not clash . I would use print server as a switch if it is close to the router by ethernet cable between router and wireless print server. Then both should work
Wireless to server and other wired computers as well .

Cannot access internet with a linksys router

Make sure DHCP is turned off on the modem or else you will get ip conflicts. Also make sure it is plugged into the wan port on the router
