There is no funnel tube on the back wall of the refrigerator.

We own two vacation rental condos in Missouri. Same frig's with same problems. Ice clogs the drain tubes and then the water drains into the frig filling the bottom and then making a mess of the shelves. The solution eludes me. The settings are on normal but there is very little food in each frig ( most people don't fill them up). But no matter, this should NOT happen. This is a BAD design and needs a recall. The next fix for us will be to run the drain tube externally. I hear there was some kind of kit that WP had. Any ideas? Otherwise, I'm cutting into the back of the cabinet.

Freezer drain freezes and therefore the melted water overflows to the top shelf of the refrigerator.

I have to defrost the freezer for the ice to melt and therefore melt the ice in the freezer drain.

water drips down the back of the inside of the refrigerator down to the bottom under the crisper drawers and collects overtime. I have to **** the water out otherwise it overflows onto the kitchen floor. My refrigerator works fine other than that.

theres no tube there to pull out its just a plug it leaks water in to inside bottom

  • Anonymous Mar 05, 2009

Water collects in the bottom of the fridge. There is no ice maker, so this is not a cause.

Does this require repair or replacement?

I had a similar problem with my Whirlpool model 6ED25DQFW side by side refrigerator/freezer with ice maker/water dispenser. Water was slowly pooling under the refrigerator under the freezer section. The defrost drain pipe was not blocked, the condenser fan was running, the drip pan was not leaking.
The source of the leak was found to be the icemaker solenoid block plastic body which had a pinhole leak.
To fix requires either plastic welding, or replacement of the solenoid block plastic body.
To access the solenoid block firstly requires removal of the cardboard cover, located at the lower rear of the refrigerator.

Where is the defrost drain in a whirlpool refrigerator model number ET1FHMXMQ00

It's part 7 in this diagram.

It's behind the rear cover inside the freezer. From there the water drains to the drip pan underneath the fridge where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

you will need to access the heater in the rear area of the freezer compartment and disconnect the heater element and take a continuity test of the element,if this checks good, then in the same area is your defrost timer, unplug the heater from it and hook up a voltmeter and energize the defrost timer manually and see if you have a voltage there

Whirlpool ultraease refrigerator (ED7FHG) making water sounds, and drips water onto steel pan in bottom rear of freezer side. Purchased new. This is an obvious change. Problem?

You have a water leak somewhere (I'm assuming this water sound is constant). If not write me back for other possible solutions.

The only place water comes into the freezer is for an ice maker or a door water dispenser. Check around the ice maker for a leak. If there is a water dispenser in the door then check the piping to it also.

There is a drain in the bottom of the freezer compartment which is there so when the frost is melted by the defrost heaters, it has somewhere to go. This drain drains into the "drip pan" (or condensate pan) in the bottom of the unit. Here the water will sit until it is evaporated into the air.

If this helps you, please select YES to the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

Kenmore elite - Water dripping from freezer to refrigerator

Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your freezer compartment. Some models like yours have leak in the turns as the water leaves the freezer. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution with clorox in the drain will help you clean locate the leak and where the blockage may be downline.. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Some times this is a factory defect and I can help you solve the freezing drain problem. Let me know, Sea Breeze

Not an original solution - but a good one. Remove panels at the back of the freezer compartment to expose the heater unit or heater wire that defrosts the freezer coils and wrap a solid copper wire gently around the heater/ heater wire and place the loose end in the drain. This will conduct heat to the freezer drain and help keep it open. I did see a manufactured part in one of the appliance parts websites but it did not match my unit.

Overflowing drip pan under the fridge

for reallybsq
problem could be door seals not sealing completely and hence excessive ice formed on evaporator and excess water when it melts. however, i have found this problem many times with large larder fridges and really found no cure.

for guest.
towards the bottom of the back wall, there is a gulley with a drain hole in the middle. this drain is blocked. clear it with something flexible and make sure water flows away freely
