It is a retaining ring and you need a special pair of pliers to remove this. If the guard is sticking remove the blade and lube and try and blow out with compressed air, if other let me know and I will try and help.

Makita slide compound- Saw Blade. LS0714

It seems as though the original blade was fitted without a spacer. These usually come with any new blade. It is simply a washer (usually aluminium) that fits in the hole of the saw blade and reduces the hole diameter down to the size of the flange on your saw. This is common practice. Never try and centre a blade without the correct size hole to flange size. Very dangerous. These washes are really cheap and can be obtained from most hardware stores. Usually in an assortment of different outside and inside diameters to suit any circumstance. Hope this helps, cheers Bob.

Saw stopped working. changed brushes. still not working.just dead.blade turns ok.not even a click

These are notorious for burning out armatures.
The replacement process is pretty involved, I would not attempt unless you are comfortable.
Remove the brushes
Remove the 3 Screws hold the motor assy to the saw
Remove the screws holding the motor housing together.
Separate the housing and you should be able to see right away if the armature is burnt (many times the windings actually blow apart)

Often when the armature burns out it also melts the brush holder assy - I would recommend replacing it as well.
If the armature appears fine then I would lean toward the switch. Makita BSS611 18V LXT Lithium Ion 6 1 2 Circular Saw Parts

I cannot loosen the bolt that holds the blade on my 7 1/4 Makita circular saw. How do I make the blade stop spinning to loosen it?

they make a blade holder now but usually if you hold the blade against a wood block real tight you can loosen the bold / screw . most warn against over tightening them

I have an old Makita table saw and need to change the blade. It is a circular saw mounted under a table. I can't find the stop that allows me to unscrew the fixing nut on the blade. It is Makita Model...

This link will take you to Makita and display an owners manual where you will see that the saw should have came with the necessary wrenches to change the blade. If they are not available I have used two different methods. Take care with either, that blade is just waiting to getcha. 1. I have clamped a pair of vice grips directly on the blade and let them stop against the saw top to keep the blade from turning or 2. I have levered a peice of soft wood against the blade to keep it from turning. According to Makita the thread is righthand, so you can apply the righty tighty lefty loosey rule to determine which way to loosen the nut. Good luck I hope this helps.
