First make sure to hit the menu button on the TV's remote and if nothing is there then friend while the set is on turn a bright flashlight on and shine at angle into the set push the TV menu button if you can see a image then your back light is not working.
You can also check the transformers they are close to were the wires plug into the panel, make sure all transformers read the same amount of resistance if not you have found a bad one. Now you will have to check to see if the power supply is sending 24v to the backlight, if not the power supply is bad. Cost backlights around 150.00 and power supplies around 100.00. Well this should help you friend.

I disagree with given info that belongs to lcd tv whereas RCA P52936 is rear projection tv that has totally different things inside and real hands-on experience technician knows it.
Your tv has three picture tubes inside and I don't think all got failed at same time. Check horizontal deflection circuit and make sure its working, check screen volts of all three picture tubes.

Its a good bet that the picture tube is going bad. Thats the classic symptom of a failing tube. The tubes if available cost more than new tv's.. Sorry

12 yr. old 25" G.E. picture fading

I gotta love it when people make up answers. There is no such thing as a "contrass module". I'm assuming the poster meant "contrast". The trouble is your 12-year-old picture tube. It's gotten weak and isn't getting as bright or sharp as it used to. Picture tube manufacturers estimate the useful life of a tube at about 7 years today. There are adjustments inside that might help some, but you need a new picture tube. It's going to cost a lot more than $60 to $75 for that. You're better off replacing the TV.

Blank screen on panasonic television

Hi, u have clearly mentioned that u are able to hear the sound from ur television. So the audio port of ur tv has no problem. The problem is that the picture tube of ur tv has damaged totally. Video output port has lost its ability to display on screen. If u are in a option of repairing ur tv its better to get a new picture tube or else if u opt for purchasing ur new television its well and good. but the cost for replacing ur new picture tube costs more.

High pitched sound

The high-pitched squeal is from the power supply, usually because of failure of the horizontal output transistor, flyback transformer, or both. Without a specific model I can't give more definite information about part numbers or likely costs. But repairs of this type usually have parts costs in the 10 to 75 dollar range (depending on just which parts are bad, and where replacements come from) plus whatever labor costs the repairer charges.

unfortunately, your TV's tube has burned out. the replacement for a tube will probably cost close to the TV's price. At this point, your best option is to get a new TV.

Picture is gone! :*(

the picture tube (what makes the TV picture work) has blown out. Just call you nearest tv reapair shop and purchase a new one. (these are kind of expensive!)

(Also, if it's fifteen years old, i think it's time to get a new T.V. hint. hint.)

Old tv's

I dont think you need a picture tube. If the audio still works when the picture goes out I would suggest checking the solder on the vertical output IC that could make the picture tubes blank out. Look for hairline cracks and resolder just to make sure. Let me know how you make out or if you need more info.

No picture or sound

The most common cause for a bowed picture is the convergence power supply module. The module will fail and sometimes blow the fuse. Average cost of repair would be around $100, if you brought it to a tv shop, more for in home service.
