Question about Moen 7310 Legend Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet with Side Spray Chrome...

1 Answer

I am reinstalling a Moen 7345 riser faucet in my laundry room. This faucet was removed from a bar sink two years ago by the contractor who replaced my kitchen counters and changed my two kitchen sink faucets. I went to install the hose to the riser stem and the hose seems to not be seated against anything allowing the hose to be loose in the connector. It seems to me like there should be a solid washer or something for the hose washer to seal against. I have put it together just like I took it apart from how the contractor left it for me. It seems like maybe a part is missing. I have ordered a new hose assembly from Moen hoping that it includes whatever I may be missing. It does leak around the hose when the water is turned on.

I had a similar problem and, like you, found that there was nothing for the washer to seat against. Apparently, there was a metal bushing installed when manufactured, that was entirely eaten away by electrolytic corrosion - mine took nearly twenty years. I machined a new non-metallic bushing, installed it, and the problem was solved.

I also sent Moen's president a letter explaining the problem and how to fix it but heard nothing back from them. At the time, no parts were offered that could fix the problem.

I need replacement part for bath sink cartridge 4570

The Moen 1225 or 1200 cartridges are the same except the 1200 is brass in stead of plastic. They will fit most Moen single handle faucets. If it is a two-handle faucet, the 1224 cartridge will fit most two-handle models unless it is a fancy widespread faucet more than about 15 years old. I don't know the model numbers for those cartridges. All of these cartridges require a removal tool if you can't get them out with a pair of pliers.

There is definitly a nut or nuts holding the faucet to the sink. It could be around the center shaft that goes through the sink, but most likely 2 small nuts that screw onto the 2 outer stubs. These are your hot and cold wated supplies. crawl underneath the cabinets and check. It might be difficult to get them off, but they do make a pipe wrench tool that has a rotating head that makes this easier

Moen Monticello 4-inch centerset bath faucets can be repair easily with only a screwdriver and adjustable wrench. Turn the water off to the both sides of the faucets under the sink. Open both the hot and cold-water valves to alleviate any remaining pressure. Remove the handles by grasping the base of the handle and turning it counterclockwise.( This works for both lever and cross handles). Loosen the Moen faucet cartridge bonnet nut with an adjustable wrench by turning it counterclockwise to the left. Pull the stem from the faucet by hand and replace. Reinstall the bonnet nuts and handles. Turn the water back on and test the faucet for leaks. The Moen Monticello faucet comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Try calling Moen to get your replacement parts free.
