VIDEO DISPLAY CONTROLLER

My video display controller is burned out, suspect because the fan stopped working. It is a Nvidia GeForce GO 6800 Ultra, I understand it is no longer available. Is there another video card that is compatible with my computer ? Sager are not responsive on this issue. Also, before the card failed I found that the fans did not always run on startup even when I changed the BIOS settings for the fan options from automatic to continuous, could there be a fault with the BIOS system ?

External monitor out of range error on Dell Latitude E-Series portable

If you have trouble getting a display on an external monitor, the issue can be resolved by making the proper settings in the Video Driver Control Panel applet, instead of the Windows Display Properties.

The issue occurs when the display settings for the external monitor are set higher in the NVidia Control Panel than the monitor could display. The settings overrode any Windows Display Properties setting. Similar issues have been seen with the Intel GMA Graphics Controller.

These issue occur docked or undocked with a variety of external displays, projectors and TVs.

So remember that the NVidia and Intel Control Panel settings override the Windows Display Settings.

Laptop display only works when video driver disabled

Hi! Your Video Card can be replaced, You just need to check it in the BIOS setup if your video card is still working. Try installing a new driver just download from Nvidia website. Maybe your driver for the said video card was corrupted.

It is best to disable the onboard video electrically via a jumper or dip switch on your computers motherboard or in its system BIOS. Please refer to your computers user guide or contact your computer manufacturer for instruction on this process.
In the event that your system does not support the above, you may be able to disable the onboard video card in the operating system using the instructions below.
Make sure that the new PCI video card is not installed in your computer.
Windows XP/2000
1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.
3. Click View, and then Show Hidden Devices.
4. Click the Plus (+) sign next to the Display Adapters category to expand it.
5. Select the onboard graphics controller under Display Adapters and click Disable. Click OK to confirm.
6. Do not restart the computer until the controller is disabled.
7. Turn the computer off.
8. Install your PCI GeForce card and follow the included instructions from the card manufacturer.

Have a asus a7n266-vm/aa motherboard. just installed windows 7. no video controller avail asus site only has winxp driver. what to do?

As far as I know, that motherboard has a nVidia GPU - you can find and download video drivers from nvidia.com

The motherboard video specs as I found them:

Chipset NVIDIA nForce 220-D
NVIDIA IGP-64 and NVIDIA MCP-D
VGA Integrated GeForce 2 GPU (Graphics Processor Unit)

Hp pavilion dv9700t black screen with colored lines

Well the first thing I would try is to hook the computer up to an external monitor to check and see if the video controller itself is causing the problem.... If the same thing happens on the external monitor, then it's the controller hardware or the driver.... so to rule out the driver, download a different version of the driver for that card and install it. If the same thing still happens, then you should suspect the card itself, and yes, on a laptop the video card is integrated on the motherboard, so if it needs replacing, then you must swap the whole board. Hope this helps!
