Question about Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer

1 Answer

My Dell computer with Windows XP freezes up and speaker emits a steady tone at unpredictable times. Sometimes it freezes up without emitting the tone. It has to be rebooted using the button in front. Generally the computer slows down before freezing completely. Help!

For that first open the back cover of cpu and reattach the RAM memory also reattach both connection to harddrive.
Then when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
Then go to startmenu->run type in run "chkdsk /r" then press ok then press "y" then restart computer then it fix errors on harddrive.
Also remove temp files and scan computer with updated antivirus.
Then it works fine.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Optiplex 330, fails to POST and locks

When your computer emits beeps when you power on the computer, it's usually means that you have a memory issue. Try re-seating the memory modules and power on the computer. If you have more the one module, insert one at a time and power on the computer.

Left computer speaker is unpredictable

Take no offense but after 8 years, you got your moneys worth. Unless you're good with the soldering iron and schematics, call it a great investment and update your speaker system. I imagine your computer is newer than the speakers and you can take advantage of some 5.1 surround sound! It's really great if you do any gaming, too.
Since you'll probably be getting rid of them anyway, you might want to crack it open and see if there's any loose wiring that can be fixed.
Thanks for using Fixya.com. Please rate this tip accordingly. I wish there was a better solution but I usually get 5 years out of mine so I feel jealous. :-)
