Question about Microtek ScanMaker 8700 Pro Design Flatbed Scanner
For some reason, when I turn on the scanner, it no longer goes through it's cycle. It is silent, and regardless of what software I use, it is not recognized. This was a fairly expensive device, and I've treated it very gently. So, what could it be? Is it possible for a user to repair? Perhaps it's a switch or other replaceable part? I sure hope so. My wife has been mocking me, because her <$100 scanner has worked for years without fail.
If not user fixable, where does one take a scanner for repair?
Thanks, Paul Christy
I believe it's something to do with the power supply.
It's not user-fixable, but appears to be a pretty standard switchmode power supply. Any competent tv/video repair place should be able to have a look at it and maybe fix it for you!
