Question about Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Top Thread Hi, I am new with this machine. I was trying to use the embroidery. I was having a bit of trouble in the beginning. At first, the shirt (along with the Light weight Stabilizer) had gotten pulled and caught (it bore a small hole on the shirt). I was able to get it out and cleaned the machine (as directed from the manual). Then I was able to get it working, but when I got to the 3rd thread color the top thread kept breaking off, then the bobbin thread is not getting pulled up for stitching. So the only thread going in the shirt is the top, then it breaks off. Is it from the tension? What can I do? Please Help!

Can you sew a normal zig zag on a scrap piece to check if the bobbin thread is being picked up.....if not, or only on one side of the ZZ, then your timing will need adjusting.

OR...

Are you using an old blunt needle ?

How do you start embroidering a design where the thread breaks on a Bernina Artista 180 sewing/embroidery machine?

Most machines have a stitch counter, stitch forward and step back features. Check your manual and embroidery machine's screens for this.

IN case you have misplaced your manual I found this one for you. It's big so allow time to download.

My top thread does not pick up the bobbin thread. I broke a needle in it the other day and replaced the needle and now having trouble with the bobbin thread. It is not turning? I am very new to embroidery....

Take off your throat plate and make sure that there is not a piece of your needle still in there, brush it out and oil your machine if it needs it. Now rethread.

Cotton breaks on Brother Embroidery Galaxie 2100 machine

Try turning down your top tension setting a bit. If its at 4 or 5, i would turn it down to about 3 ish. Cotton thread is more brittle than polyester and rayon thread.

Hope that helps :)

I have a Bernina 340 Deco embroidery computer. I am having trouble (lots) with the thread looping on top of fabric.

either try rethreading machine from beginning... or your top tension is too loose... did you switch it over? I have a Singer futura and I have to switch a couple things around for sewing or embroidery...hope it helps

Stitching trouble

Here is a trouble shooting chart - http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elprojects/SimpleProduct_ELP.aspx?CS_ProductID=PR1238&CS_Catalog=Elprojects

I would start with cleaning (see maintenance section of the user's manual).

This has to be done more often with sewing/embroidery machines that have a drop-in bobbin.

Be sure to use bobbin thread for machine embroidery.

Always thread the machine with the presser foot up. This will insure the thread is seating into the tension control.

On what number should I put 7570 tention when

Refer to the manual. If you do not have a manual, start at 4 and work your way through the numbers, bit by bit until you get good results.

The bobbin thread should pull the top thread slightly under and to the back.

Machine embroidery bobbin thread is heavier than the standard size machine embroidery top thread and this also helps to pull the top thread to the back.

Embroidery pattern trouble

When mine did this, I had a little tiny bit of thread stuck in the winding path of the endless bobbin. After I cleaned it of all thread, it went back to perfect work.

Machine embroidery

You should always use proper Bobbin Thread for embroidery - not a bobbin wound from regular dressmaking thread. You are right, the special bobbin thread is thinner so that the embroidery thread will be pulled to the underside and you get a nice shiny embroidery on top with no bobbin showing through. Wind yourself 6 or more bobbins at a time of bobbin thread to always have some on hand, or buy the pre-wound L size ones.
All embroidery machines - no matter what brand - recommend using bobbin thread for embroidery. It is readily available at all sewing stores, probably even Spotlight would carry some. If you get stuck for a supply, try overlocker thread.

I had the same problem. It maybe you have some bits of thread caught inbetween the metal plates . That's what my problem was . Try cleaning carefully between the plates with something flat carefull not to scratch them.
