My Canon FS100 video files don't upload when connected. Picture files do upload but video files don't; it only reads picture files. What seems to be the problem?

Windows XP? Are you using windows movie maker (WMM) to import them? I begin by copying the ".mod" files to my computer off the flash card which I insert into my printer. THe software Canon provides is useless. Next I change the file extension to ".MPG". Next open WMM, import video file, but when it starts doing so choose cancel. I don't know why that is. If you let it continue the import it seems to lock up. It will then let you drag and drop that video clip onto a movie.

Can you still upload from the canon FS100 without the disk that was suppose to be included n the box?

If your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.

How to upload a video to the computer with my camera?

Hi Morgan,

The CTG file are the temporary files that a Canon Camera creates with every picture you click and is stored on the Card. These are not the actual picture files. Try to copy only the JPEG files and if possible format your Card since these CTG files are supposed to be deleted automatically when you erase/copy a picture from Card.

Canon FS100 Camcorder. The view screen does not work, lights up but does not show scene or picture being taken. I can take pictures and video with it, and upload to computer but it is difficult when...

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

I record video on my sx110. It creates a .jpg file. I upload the file to my macbook, but it seems to be a single picture. I want to upload the entire video and then convert it to a format that can be...

jpg and jpeg are both "picture only" file formats. it might have put it in another folder on the camera. the file will be either .mpg , .mpeg, or .avi most digital cameras save as .avi witch is perfect for uploading online! I would check every folder that is on the camera. there's gotta be an AVI file in there somewhere! Good luck hope this helped!

Can I easily transfer a video file from the Canon FS100 which uses an SD card to Pinnacle 14 and edit?

The question is "Does Pinnacle 14 read the format of Canon's videos?"

In my case, my Canon's video extention is "*.mov"; so I need to convert the movie file before I can edit it.

Check your editing program to make sure it supports the extention; otherwise, find a program to convert the Canon file into a readable file for your Pinnacle program.

How do you download video clips from a Canon FS100 camcorder?

the easier way its to go on the actual folder and copy /paste ...but ...the actual way to select it just like a picture..and then download....I believe you used only the automatic download until now...but if you cancel that will either open the folder prompt to ask you what to do ...just like you insert a cd...and there select open folder...and copy manually ...or the manager import from device ..and there look for the folders(browse) where the videos are is usually a different one on the card..
...also if you cancel the initial will find the camera storage (SDcard) into the My computer a removable device ......act with it as any other moving from folder to folder...beware if you select cut ...this will remove from the card permanently ...the file
