It's part 7 in this diagram.

It's behind the rear cover inside the freezer. From there the water drains to the drip pan underneath the fridge where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Whirlpool gold french door bottom freezer ices up and causes fridge to run warm. I have taken it apart and defrosted several times. Fan works, drain is not clogged. What could be the cause of this?

The self defrost function is not working. Depending on the age and model you have a heater, bi-metal defrost thermostat.....and either an electronic control or defrost timer. One of these parts has failed. Need a model number to tell you more.

Whirlpool Gold Model # GI5FVAXVQOO French door Refrigerator with ice through door is frosting up in the freezer.

your defrost drain has clogged, normal self defrost cycle should be removing water via a drain tube leading down behind unit and evaporating away. however if you were to look behind refrig in compressor compartment youll see a "drain tube" that has what appears to be a black "duckbill" grommet has more then likely failed be gumming up and preventing water to drain through.if you remove this and install part number "w10619951", should solve your problem... youll need to clear frozen drain from inside unit as well, directions i believe are in the part packet

Why is water leaking from front of bottom freezer?

Your refrigerator defrost on the average about every 8 hours so the water that accumulates during defrost has to go somewhere right? You have a defrost drain blockage.
We need to see if the water is overflowing the condensate drain tray or if the blockage is in the turn the drain leads down back of your refrigerator. Much more on this page=> Leaking Refrigerators! Not all blocke drains act the same when your refrigerator leaks so please ask should you have questions. Please provide the model number found around the fresh food section door frame. Kenmore model numbers look like this example=> 321.1234567 If you run into any problems along the way of repair please let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Does the refrigerator need to be level whirlpool if refrigerator leaks water inside fridge

It helps prevent water from freezing and blocking the defrost condensaate drain opening that causes water to flow over into other areas of your refrigerator. But being level will not stop this from happening on some refrigerators because they are simply prone to this problem happening. I will be here should you have other questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

We are getting water on the top shelf of the refrigerator under the freezer. Our model number is 46-81152 purchased on 6-16-97 Mike O'Malley

That is not a good model number. Model number tag is located in the fresh food section. I will assume that it is a top freezer. If so. Defrost drain hole is blocked. Water cannot drain to defrost pan under unit in the back by compressor. If this is the case, water has to go somewhere. Right to the top shelf in freshfood section. I am sorry Mike, I can only guess without a model number to look up system. One other thing, and check this first. If the controls are located in the back. On the left side is a little trough that will pull out. It gets clogged up. Pull out and remove obstruction. It is part of the drain system. If clogged, defrost water goes on top shelf in fresh food section. A lot of typing. Hope this helps you.

Water on the top shelf of the refrigerator

Your defrost drain is clogged and now the defrost drain trough has filled with ice causing the water from your defrost cycles to flow into the fresh food section. You will need to clear all ice form thr drain area and this is done thru the freezer wall and some models also have a removable bottom panel in the freezer that has to come out also to get to the drain. You can do this it will just take a little time. About an hour for a first timer with little experience. Good luck and hope this helps

Freezer drain line keeps freezing over

Good day,
Whirpool machines have a very short defrost cycle, as compaired to many brands. This definitely contributes to the problem.
1. Make sure the drain fittings and drain hose to the drain pan are completely open. Not just open, but blown free of any debrise.
2. My experience with many whirlpool products, is ice built up under and back of the drain pan in the freezer compartment. It cannot be seen.
To solve this problem long term, means unplugging the machine, defrosting, and drying it out completely.
24 hours and idealy with a floor fan blowing into the compartment.
3. As well, you wil notice a small round disk clipped to the top of the evaporator. This is the defrost thermostat, and controls the temperature during defrost.
I change and bump this tstat up 5 degrees.
For example, if it's a 50 degree tstat, I replace it with a 55 degree. Or if it's 55 degrees I use a 60 degree model.
You will not be able to buy this as a Whirlpool item, but you can with a little effort, use a GE kit.

The part number for GE replacement kits are for example "WR50X55", the last 2 numbers are the temperature of that tstat, and run in 5 degree increments from 45 degrees to 60 degrees.

A sharp appliance parts house counterman should be able to help you.

P.S. The tstat in Whirlpools are often given in Celsius.
You'll have to convert that to farenheit
Patience in drying the machine is your friend here.

Whirlpool Custom Series refrigerator leaks -Model ET18JKXSN05

It sounds like the line you found is for draining the water from the defrost cycle. It should drain the water from melting the ice into the pan at the bottom so it will evaporate. Sounds like its being clogged is the cause of the water in your fridge.
