Thank you for the reply and suggestion.. I have done all of the above with no success. The problem still persist. It does not matter what the material or the thread and or the tension. This machine has been a part of this household for years and all of a sudden this has started. I cleaned, oiled and regreased where indicated. Just for the records, I am an electronics software and hardware engineer for 30 years. I strongly believe that the problem may point to the fact that the material is not advancing. I think if we take it from there and work back, maybe we can come up with solution. The fact that I have used the machine tells me that maybe it needs some sort of overhaul. Thanks

I tried all you have suggested with no success. The problem is still evident. One of the problems is that

the material is not advancing and the sews in the same spot. Can you please try again?? Thank You

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check that the upper thread is not tangled. Now remove the thread completely from the machine. Please use the correct size spool cap for the size of the thread spool. Re-thread the machine according to the directions in the manual. Remove the bobbin and make sure the bobbin is threaded properly in the shuttle race.
Remove any loose threads or lint in the shuttle race. The tension could be too tight or too loose. Set the tension to the basic thread tension setting or adjust the tension manually. Also check that the combination of the needle size, thread size and fabric is correct.
Be sure to use the correct size needle and thread for the type of fabric that you are sewing.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

OK, please oil all the points wherever required and keep
it under the direct sun light for over an hour. After it, please clean it once
more and if still the issue is not resolve then please go ahead and overhaul
    the sewing machine.

Sewing machine jammed with needle down and material can not be removed. Help I can break the needle, I really just want the fabric out.

loosen the needle clamp screw then you can pull the needle out with pliers not damaging any of the machine or bobbin area .

Handwheel is locked down

Several things to check. Did the needle break and jam in the bottom? Is the needle bent or did it jam in the bobbin area? I had a 'knot' of thread build up on the bottom and it hooked itself into the metal clip on the bobbin so that the needle couldn't raise. If thread jams in the bottom cut the threads until you can free the hoop and material. Check the bobbin for pieces of thread and fuzz. Check to see if the bobbin case or the throat plate is scratched or bent. If you are stitching Free Standing Lace on this machine or a piece with over 20,000 stitches I recommend starting with a new full bobbin and a new needle. As you get toward the bottom of the bobbin, thread seems to have a high likelihood of tangling or looping and will cause a jam which means the handwheel locks.

Upper thread gets jammed in bobbin area

Try these suggestions
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

Jamming machine

Need a little more info.
When you say "jams" do you mean the machine will not turn over, is there a "tangle" of thread under the material you are sewing and also around the bobbin holder?

The machine will sew a few stitches then jam up. When I pull the material out there's a lot of thread on the bottom of the material. I've re threaded both top & bottm, cleaned out the bobbin...

Hope you are re-threading with the presser foot fully up so that tension discs are open? It sounds daft but
a change of needle often helps, you may have the wrong size in for the fabric or a blunt needle. Try re-setting the tension discs. The bobbin also has a tension spring but do note where it is before you start moving it as you may need to put it back.

Material keeps getting pulling into bobbin, and thread in bobbin compartment jamming

Two things to check:

1. the bobbin tension. Is it too tight? It should pull out without a ton of resistance but should have just a bit.

2. Is the material sheer or thin? If you can drop the dogfeed a bit you might want to do that or you can sew through tissue paper (on the bottom side) to keep the material from being pulled down.

If those things don't help you might try lengthening the stitch just a tad and make sure the needle you're using is the right size for the fabric.

SINGER CURVY: It jammed while sewing felt. Taking apart the bobbin area, I can see that the needle hits the bottom of the "floor". The bobbin is not catching or moving.

I think that your should try a new needle, it may be bent or have burr on it. It problem persists call Singer at 1-800-4singer, good luck

The needle keeps breaking in my Yamata FY 910

The bobbin case rests on the lip of the hook and is is held into place by the position bracket. The position bracket is located at about 5 o'clock and has a small square end with a buffer spring. It must be positioned to hold the bobbin case securely and also allow the thread to pass through freely. It may be out of adjustment but may not.

If the bobbin case has turned, it is very likely to have suffered damage as it is made of a soft carbon fiber material. It not polished off, these damaged areas can snag the thread and jam the machine and create tension problems. Some gouges, burrs and needle punctures can be carefully sanded but you may need a new bobbin case. Use a 1500 grit sandpaper to smooth off the rough edges.

My fabric won't advance.

Hi Jodyk...Remove your flatbed so you can access your bobbin area. Open the cover of the bobbin area. The shiny/bright components consist of the Bobbin, which snaps into the Shuttle Hook, which is contained in the Race. Immediately right of the Race is a pewter/matte silver colored lever. Press the lower portion of the lever to raise the Feed Dogs. Pressing the upper portion drops the Feed Dogs, and is commonly used to accomplish free-hand applique work......good luck my friend.
