Question about Dell Computers & Internet

I am trying to remove my Dell motherboard model DHM (Dimen. 8200)

I am trying to remove my motherboard Dell model DHM (old 486 CPU). I removed all the screws, heat sinks, CPU and the board seems hung up underneath. I tried sliding it forward but no luck. Any suggestions?

no, the d-shell connectors fit through the case without attaching to it. The motherboard seems to "bind" about half way from the edge. Is it possible that I have to take the plastic case away from the backside of the computer case? I tried to take a little plastic cover away from the back of the unit and got the edges free but the bottom locks into place and I don't want to break anything trying to get it off. Is it necessary to go underneath the motherboard to release some latches or restraining clips?

    Thanks

no it was not helpful. i went to a local Microcenter store and the techie there explained that Dell used some specialized mounting brackets in the older machines that basically prevented removal of the motherboard. plus, the integrated fan/plenum they used to cool the CPU would probably not fit in the right place on a new (different mfg) motherboard.

Plus, in an unrated issue, the powersupply was only 180 watts and would probably not run a more powerful CPU with its associated RAM.

So basically, I cannot upgrade the motherboard on this unit.

I don't mind paying the money because I did get an answer, just not a helpful one.

Hello,

Most of the older Dell were also held in place by the screws on the VGA, Printer and serial ports. Remove the Hex head screws on all of the posrts and your board should release from the case.

I hope this helps.

Dell dhm capacitors

There might be screws that hold the motherboard to the metal cover or there is a latch that you can press that will make it slide out.

It's easier to replace the motherboard than try to fix the capacitors.

Need cmos jumper location on Dell Dimension 8200 to bypass bios password

From what I can gather, you just need to locate the jumper labeled PSWD and remove it. Turn computer back on, then back off. Replace jumper pin and turn computer back on. That should do it. Removing the jumper disables password. Turning on computer resets it. Replacing jumper re-enables password capability.

Trying to find the Jumper that controls FSB on a dell dimension 8200. Either that or some form of overclocking software that will allow me to get the full 2.8 out of my P4

Hi,

modern Boards Auto-Detect FSB speeds, usually determined By CPU fsb And Memory/Ram speeds. It may be Wise to see if theres A user manual/guide for this board. or a possible bios update to support the CPU. also check the boards fsb speed ratings charts. overclocking is not recommended, as this can damage cpu/ram and motherboard.
