I have the same problem any button I push on my remote I get "SET 1" and no response from the recorder for any function.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it, and nothing happened. The mdr-es35v has no message in the video recorder screen except the time (when off) and CH 3 (when on). Pressing enter and 1 on the remote for 10 seconds or longer has no visable effect on the recorder. I have two remotes for the mdr-es35v (one is for a recorder that died some months ago). Neither work with the recorder. Any help will be appreciated. The sensor is not obscured by dust or glass, and it is not in direct sunlight.

The winner is....

SET 1 on the console; press and hold the ENTER button down and while holding Enter; press and hold "1" button for about ten seconds together. Your remote and console should be in sync again and try cutting off the dvd recorder with the remote and it should work.

THIS WORKED FOR ME!!!!

THANKS!

I tried almost every suggestion. The best answer was the most obvious and the one I always forget POWER RECYCLE . Unplug the unit and then plug it back in. The remote worked and I was then able to reset the code.

    WORKED LIKE A MIRACLE !!!!!

You just saved me hours of cursing and hate, not to mention the cash wasted and days waiting on buying a new remote that would have cost half as much as a new machine!

Just unplug the unit, wait 10 seconds, and the remote will work again! (so it's not the remote, but the unit itself that is faulty).

    Thanks again.

I had the same problem. The remote suddenly appeared to be completely dead, and Panasonic told me to buy a new one.

I tried the "press Enter and number" solutions but they did not solve the problem.

I then turned on the unit manually and unplugged the power cord at the back of the case. When I plugged it back in, the setup sequence ("Select language," etc.) began and the remote functioned perfectly.

I called Panasonic and the rep Kevin had me do this which absolutely worked. If your remote doesn't work and it says
SET 1 on the console; press and hold the ENTER button down and while holding Enter; press and hold "1" button for about ten seconds together. Your remote and console should be in sync again and try cutting off the dvd recorder with the remote and it should work.

Original control just does not work. trying to connect to a 4 in 1 digivolt+ nothing is coming up managed to do tv ( philips) but not my blu-ray.?

Hello ! Before we get too involved in lengthy answers, let's try the easy stuff first, not meaning to be insulting, never know if there are kids, pets, etc. So:
1) Do you have the manual for the device? If so find out where the infared receiver ( that reads signals from the remote ), an see if there is a smear over it, or a scratch that might interrupt the signal.
2) Do the same thing for the remote, see if junior or kitty got something on the remote's eye that is pointed at the BluRay.
3) By chance do you have a Toshiba TV or HDTV, because the remote for either of those may well work on your BluRay.
4) Often, one of your other remotes can also be programmed to run your BluRay
5) Apparently, if you have an I-Phone, youo can get an "App." that will allow you to use your I-Phone like a remote control.
6) I just LOVE my RCA remote control that I bought at Dollar Store for $3.00 ! It will control, TV, Sattellite or Cable box, DVD or VCR. It has auto search to find codes, or doing it manually with sheet of codes etc. is not too hard. And it lights up. This is the cheaper of the RCA remotes that I have seen. So if none of my suggestions work, I will strongly suggest that you email RCA, and ask which one of their very affordable " RCA Universal Remotes " will do the job, as I guarantee they will have one.

If none of these suggestions work, well then I hope you'll let me know and we'll fix you up, OK?

The remote to my RCA DVD Player, Model DRC220N, has stopped working. I've tried new batteries, hitting the DVD button 1st, etc. Nothing works. The player itself still seems to work as the buttons...

You could try a universal remote (if one is available which will provide most functions to your player, such as STOP/PLAY etc.).

You can try a simple test on your existing RCA remote to see if it provides a 'frequency pulse'. Turn a radio on, select a black section of the AM band (not FM) turn volume up halfway, place remote near it, listen for pips and noises from the speaker(s) - if this occurs, the remote itself is OK. This is the cheapest idea to try first before going out and buying a new remote.

* If the unit does not respond to the universal (regardless of whether a remote code is required or not) then the IRD within the unit itself and its associated controller circuit may have failed (hence why the remote does not work). Repair of this requires a qualified workshop technician (because of the many surface-mounted components in the IRD controller circuit). *

But try the original remote-to-AM-radio test and/or purchase a universal remote or similar if necessary.

I can not program my AT&T remote control to control my SHarp DVD BluRay BD-HP20. I have tried the easy find feature and every Sharp code I have found on the internet and the AT&T website for Sharp...

Hi!

You may try these codes: 1311, 3163, 1312, 3164, 3176, 2174 and 3177
If none of these codes work try the steps bellow:

Programming with the Automatic Code Finder
The automatic code finder cycles through all possible codes for the type of equipment you are programming until the correct code has been found.

  1. To program your remote control with the automatic code finder feature make sure that the Sharp AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Player is ON.
  2. To control your disk player: With the equipment on, PRESS AND HOLD DOWN, the AUX Mode Key on the remote control. The mode keys are located across the top of the AT&T U-verse remote control. While holding down the AUX Mode Key, press and release the OK button. If done correctly the Mode Keys will blink twice. The remote is now ready to be programmed.
  3. The next step is to enter the code for the automatic code finder feature. That code is 922. Enter the code 922 using the Remote Control's keypad. You have 10 seconds to enter this code before the remote times out. When 10 seconds have elapsed the Mode Keys will flash once. If this happens just start over.
  4. The next step is start the automatic code finder search. Make sure you aim your remote control at the equipment. Then press and release the play button on the remote control. Now press the Fast Forward key multiple times until the equipment turns off. Then press Enter to save the code. Your remote now has the correct code. If done successfully the Mode buttons will flash three times. Press the Power button again to turn on the Disk Player.
  5. When the code has been entered correctly, the appropriate Mode Key will flash three times. To check to see if this code works, press the Power button. If the Disk Player does not turn off, then the code is wrong and we need to try another code.
Keep me posted for clarifications.

Thanks.

I need code of a rm-998 universal control

As with my player i could not find a specific remote keystroke sequence to unlock its potential. However, i did have success in something simpler. Try...

When the message "Check Region Code comes up"
Press the Display button on your remote control
Press the Menu button on your remote control
Press the Play button on your remote control

Hope this helps and works

None of the buttons on the remote will work!!! dmr ex95v

Try unplugging the dvd player for 30 seconds. Try to turn unit on a couple of times without power (discharges capacitors). Plug it back up and see if that works. It's a shot in the dark, but worth trying.

Is the remote the original remote for the unit? Could try reprogramming for dvd player if it's a universal remote.

I think you are out of luck, unless you can find someone else who owns one, and will let you use their controller to program a learnable remote. I have purchased, and returned dozens of universal remotes...not one has worked.
