- Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it, and nothing happened. The mdr-es35v has no message in the video recorder screen except the time (when off) and CH 3 (when on). Pressing enter and 1 on the remote for 10 seconds or longer has no visable effect on the recorder. I have two remotes for the mdr-es35v (one is for a recorder that died some months ago). Neither work with the recorder. Any help will be appreciated. The sensor is not obscured by dust or glass, and it is not in direct sunlight.

I called Panasonic and the rep Kevin had me do this which absolutely worked. If your remote doesn't work and it says
SET 1 on the console; press and hold the ENTER button down and while holding Enter; press and hold "1" button for about ten seconds together. Your remote and console should be in sync again and try cutting off the dvd recorder with the remote and it should work.

I tried almost every suggestion. The best answer was the most obvious and the one I always forget POWER RECYCLE . Unplug the unit and then plug it back in. The remote worked and I was then able to reset the code.

I had the same problem. The remote suddenly appeared to be completely dead, and Panasonic told me to buy a new one.

I tried the "press Enter and number" solutions but they did not solve the problem.

I then turned on the unit manually and unplugged the power cord at the back of the case. When I plugged it back in, the setup sequence ("Select language," etc.) began and the remote functioned perfectly.

The winner is....

SET 1 on the console; press and hold the ENTER button down and while holding Enter; press and hold "1" button for about ten seconds together. Your remote and console should be in sync again and try cutting off the dvd recorder with the remote and it should work.

get ahold of Panasonic for an upgrade disc for this model, it will fix it.
