Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop
Computer freezes up, whether online on in windows. I have downloaded the hotix driver reset tool and have used it. I am running Kaspersky Internet Security Suite. I believe that all other previous programs have been removed. I do not see them in the add/remove section, but know that there may be hidden conflicts, which I know nothing at all about.
The cause of this type of issue can be frustrating to locate but there are few steps to isolate the probable cause.
First you should check that the processor is not overheating due to dust buildup on the cooling fins.
Next you should remove and re-seat RAM. Run the memory diagnostic tool from Microsoft to detect a failing RAM.
The above tests if passed should assure that the hardware is OK.
Next, remove the Kaspersky Internet security and any other anti-virus software. Use Revo uninstaller.
Use the system without any security software and see if it works OK. If not, you may need to format the drive, re-install Windows and check step by step which software is causing the problem. I know that this is very time consuming but sometimes its the only choice.
