Question about Samsung HTP-1200 System

SACD pauses between tracks

How can I prevent the system from pausing between tracks when reproducing SACD?
It is terribibly annoying when listening to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" SACD release.

The system is the HT-P1200 (the one that won the EISA award 2 or 3 years ago) and the album is Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon SACD edition (I believe it's the only Pink Floyd album ever released on SACD format).
The pause between tracks isn't 4 seconds - I guess it's less than a sec - but it is annoying because it interrupts the music which is continuous (if you know the album you know what I mean).
I've already asked Samsung about this but got no response at all.

It is normal for SADC recordings to take a few seconds to preload a small section of the track (this is called buffer). Have in mind that the sampling rate (speed of bites transfer) is 44 kHz for normal Cds, and 2822 kHz for SACDs . That is 50 TIMES more information for every second of music, and that is the reason for the extremely high quality of SACDs, but unfortunately, that also is the reason for higher buffer times. It is not noticeable in classical music because usually, the whole partiture is recorded as one track, and movies are also one single continued track, but pop albums, such as Pink Floyd, have every 3 min song as a separate track, and need a buffer every time the next track comes up. Only solution that comes to mind would be to encode the whole album as a single track, but i have only seen it in ALBUMWRAP to encode a full album in mp3, losing the advantages of SACD,

Please rate me if you found the information useful.

I know, you cannot listen to Dark Side or Atom Hearth mother with the 4 second blank between tracks.

I am not sure of the player model mounted on this system.

If you have a BD P1200 installed on your system, you should find the setting on the Music Menu (not setup menu):
SACD pauses between tracks - f3f62f4.jpg

If that does not apply, then please let me know the model of the player unit only.

Pause/resume function in analogue, manual recording mode

This player has essentially the same guts as my Pioneer PDR-509, so this is what it means...

'Repair' means the player lost power in mid-recording without commiting the track memory to a table of contents. It would likely take up to 40 minutes for the player to reconstruct it from the disk.

There is NO reason the player need be turned off (if that's where it took you) for a track pause.

Just press Pause, flip the LP over and hit Play or Pause again when you wish to continue recording.

Perhaps you don't know how to Finalize the disc either. It's not that intuitive. Press Finalize, after a while it will display a time, like 4:07. That means how long it will take to do the operation. Now press Pause and it will count down to 0:00 and be done. Then you can play it on any other CD player.

My sansa clip won't play the songs I loaded on!

I've had this happen a couple of times in the last 6 months. You can get it to play again by chosing the format option from the settings menu. Of course, then you've lost everything you had loaded on to it. Download your music/audio books again and they will play.

Sounds like the files are DRM copy protected.

You can check for protected tracks.
  • In Windows Explorer, go to the folder where the tracks are stored on your PC.
  • Click on View -----> Details
  • Right click on the header bar in the right hand window and select protected. (If protected is not listed click on More)
  • Tracks will be listed with No or Yes under "protected". Check your non-playing tracks are listed as No, under "protected".
The HDD1830 is not compatible with protected files, although your PC will play them ok.

Permanent pause

It might be that the memory chip is fryed and it thinks that you are hitting the pause button, or eather it is that something is caught in the pause button. Take it a part or find something that will fit in between the pause button and clean it.
