Question about HP Compaq nx6310 Notebook

1 Answer

Hi, My Compaq nx6310 doesn?t power up, the power LED it?s off and don?t charging the battery. The power adapter is ok (I?ll tested on another laptop). If I replace the battery with charged one, everything it?s ok, the laptop starting up and working fine.

You don?t understand. It?s working only on battery, if I charging my battery on other laptop it?s working fine. But if I plug-in the AC adapter doesn?t work at all, and the AC adapter it?s ok. It something wrong on main board. I found a MOSFET (FDS6675BZ) that remains blocked, the Gate signal that switch them in ON state is missing.
    Thank you for your time.

The adapter stopped charging my laptop due to a faulty wire, I bought a new adapter and now as soon as I plug in it starts for a second and turns back off. The charging light blink and it doesn't

When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Is not charging battery

If the laptop works with the AC Adapter Power Cord ok without any problems except the battery is not charging, then the battery is dead. Batteries only have a useful life, then they have to be replaced.

If the laptop does not work with the AC Adapter Power Cord then either the Power Cord is bad or the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop is bad. If either of these is bad, a good battery will not charge.

Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Good day, please double check your adapter. Maybe your adapter is defective. If not you need to go to the nearest service center. Maybe your laptop has an internal problem w/ the power. tnx

When the power charger is on my compaq nx6310, it run very slow, but when I use it without the power charger, only battery, it runs well... it works good!!! My S.O. is Windows XP professional sp3 I use...

You need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.

My lap top HP compacq nx6310 model working satisfacorly with AC power adaptor connected and showing battery charging led orange continuesly. when power intrupts or on battery the laptop wont switch on....

First try removing and installing the battery once. May be loose connection.
Second, may be battery problem, to confirm try battery health checker from HP http://h20239.www2.hp.com/techcenter/battery/battery_ts.htm
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41862.exe

If laptop is within warranty, call the support to fix it up for you.

Put in a branbd new battery. Power adapter is OK.

Your motherboard does not need replacing provided the problem is the power socket on the motherboard.
If the power adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.
