What you can try here to fix the problem is to try first connecting the drive to your computer and check if you can see all files inside it and see if you can play them, But if even when connected to computer and still cannot view the files inside it the problem here is with the actual drive and may needs servicing already.
But if connected to the computer and the files are there so what you can do here is to back up first all the files and format the drive and put the files one by one and that should correct the problem.

Beeping hard drive ?

Beeping or chirping?
Check it in a PC if you can. If its more of a chirp than a beep your HDD inside likely failed.

How do I download from disc to Acer Aspire one

Hello,

If you need to load software(such as device drivers) from Optical Media) in a system without an ODD Drive, follow these steps:

1. Log in to another PC in your vicinity that has an Optical Disk Drive.
2. Insert the CD/DVD into the PC and copy its' contents over to that PC.
3. Copy over that content to a USB Storage Device (USB Drive, External HDD, etc).
4. Unplug the External HDD/USB Drive with the content from the PC and plug it in your Laptop/Netbook.
5. Copy over the relevant content over to the netbooks' hard drive.

Alternatively, download the needed drivers from Acer's support website.

I have a philips tv model number 32 pfl 3805h/12 and was wondering if i can watch movies from an external hard drive? what format does the hard drive need to be?

Your TV does not have a USB port so you cannot connect an external HDD and stream movies on to the TV. But you can buy a HDD based media player which has the necessary output sockets as well as all kinds of decoders built in to stream movies on to your TV.

Hi!
If what you need is to store media like video and pictures on the hard drive for playing on your HDTV then the Seagate ST320005EXA101RK may not be the right choice for you. What you need is an HD media device with internal storage. You could try one of the following:
  • IOMEGA Screenplay director HD Multimedia Hard drive
  • Packard Bell Studio ST Media Storage Drive
  • Apple TV
  • Pixel Magic HD Media Box

How do i connect an external hard drive to my LG LCD Tv?

The LG's will support an external USB hard drive, but it seems the USB support was intended for thumb drives, so yuo need to do the following to get it working:
  1. the drive must be formatted FAT32 (like thumbdrives)
  2. keep the file names short
  3. keep the directory structure simple and as flat as possible
I have a 60GB laptop drive in a USB 2.0 enclosure drive working really nicely with good transfer rates. It takes it's power from the USB socket and is working fine.

Hope this helps.

I have an lg 50pt8 plasma tv with hdd. the hard drive wont work, it just says ( hdd initialisation in progess please try again later!) any help would be great. thank you.

Check your owners manual and see if there is a way to format the hard drive. If so, format it and try it again.

If not, or if you can't get past the hdd error, check your owners manual and see what type of hard drive it takes. Go to your local computer store, buy one and install it in your TV. This SHOULD stop the error message, and allow you to format the new drive using your TV's menu structure. Again, check the owners manual for formatting instructions.

If you are an experimental type of person, you can install the tv hard drive in an external hard drive case, plug it into your computer and try to get it running.

Finally, if it turns out to be some kind of proprietary hard drive you may have to check with LG to purchase a replacement.
