Hi there and welcome to Fixya bigslim. Your turntable not turning is not a major repair and it most likely is the turntable motor that has failed. It is not an expensive repair if you can do it yourself. Most

If I have my model numbers sorted out this is a UK region microwave, probably 220V and rated at 800 watts. Correct me if I am wrong.

Before you get too deep into this make sure the splines have not stripped on the turntable drive arm assy. under the turntable. It should just lift off the spline. If that is ok then read on....

If your going to do your own repair attempt just be advised the only real danger inside of the unit with power off is the HIGH VOLTAGE CAPACITOR.

P O W E R O F F! (as in disconnected)

To gain access to the inside of your unit remove the 4 screws in the sides (2 ea per side) and 6 screws in the back of chassis cover. Then lift the back of the cover and pull it rearward while holding it 15 - 30 inclined. The interlocking side tabs will dis-engage easily form the fornt of the chassis and the cover will come free.

Locate the large capacitor.

While holding a screwdriver way up on the handle.... short across the 2 terminals at least 3 times so it does not ruin your day.

TURNTABLE MOTOR

You can do a resistance check on the turntable motor and it should read less than 20 Ohms. Sometimes the winding fails and reattaches itself somewhere else in the winding so this can be misleading.

The other test to do is with power on knowing full well that high voltage capacitor could ruin your day if you get to close to it. Set the meter to 250 VAC and check for power to the motor. If you have power when the unit is operating with at least a cup of water inside the cooking area the turntable motor has failed.

Most Appliance parts supplies will have a turtable motor. If you walk in with your turntable motor in hand you should walk out with the correct replacement.

Power just died on microwave

There is no real safe fix. When appliances like that go bad like that it would be best advice to just get a new one to be on the safe side. You can pull off the cover with 4 screws and look to see if anything has been fried. But again, being safe is number 1

The unit made a pop noise and started smoking and smelled like burning rubber. Is the unit done?

I WOULD SAY SO! Most likely the power inverter board shorted out.

Sounds like perhaps someone put something with metal inside the unit without knowing and turned it on. Doing this tends to overheat the power inverter board causing a short in the system.

Be safe than sorry, replace the unit with a new one for around $100US. Lowes Home Improvement centers have some that are very inexpensive and are available in brushed stainless steel to match most kitchens.

Cheers,

Will not heat

The magnetron or one of the smaller components like a resistor(s) or capacitor(s) may be kaput.

Best to take it in for servicing by a qualified professional, as opening the microwave can be risky and hazardous to health, if you are inexperienced in these kind of matters.
