Question about NetGear MBR624GU Wireless Router

1 Answer

Port forward not working NetGear MBR624GU

I can't work out how to use port forwarding on my NetGear 3G (MBR624GU) modem/router.

Apache2 on my box @ 192.168.0.3 runs

I can "locally" view the site via localhost/127.0.0.1 and on the LAN using 192.168.0.3

I set HTTP ports (80 and 8080) to forward to 192.168.0.3

From "outside" I cannot view the site. I don't know what I'm missing. My provider is Optus3G and they assure me they do not block ports.

Help?

Hi,

If you have ports in your router , even it it shows that the port is closed in http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ if the application for which you have forwarded the ports works then no issue with that. If it doesn't work then we need to know who is your internet service provider , because its is a DSL connection which works in the Dynamic configuration then its obvious the port will not be forwarded beacuse of double NAT. Inorder to fix this you have to bridge the DSL modem .

Thanks & Regards,
Prema.

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

I bought a Netgear 3G broadband router from USA

I would like to inform you that it's a 3G broadband router and works with the modem which are compatible to it and the netgear is still in manufacturing stage for getting it's compatibility done for all the locations.
As per now only these locations with ISP provide modems are compatible , you can follow the link for the same:-

2wire 2701 block port 80

Go to the following link. This is just an example on how to forward ports for limewire. Use the same steps to forward port 80.

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/2701HG-B/Limewire.htm

If it still doesnt work, try updading the firmware. In case this fails, then we have some issue with the router

Port Forwarding

To Enable Port Forwarding for MR314 or RP114 1. Type the router's address in an Internet browser's address bar. (By default the router's address is 192.168.0.1). 2. Enter the router's username and password. 3. Click Advanced > Ports on the left menu bar. 4. Enter the first port number in an unused Start Port box. 5. If only one port number is to be forwarded, enter the same number in End Port. To specify a range of ports, enter the last port to be forwarded in the End Port box. 6. Enter the IP address of your local server in the Server IP Address box. 7. Click Apply.
