Blown Power supply Samsung CLX3160FN

Samsung CLX-3160FN, I have just purchased this printer from the states, but you guessed it plugges it in here!! Therefore I believe that I have Blown Power Supply put 240V instead of 110V. Purchased a converter, but went fot 45W one as this was cheapest, there is no Watt information on the printer. However this did not work. I have several clp 300 and 315 samsung laser printers, Is it easy to swap over the power supply from one of these printers, or do you know of any printer repairers that would convert/fix my printer.

Thanks a lot. Hmm that means the power converter I have is not powerfull enough as its only 45W. I will try an electrical engineer with who may have a convertor powerfull enough. Would the power supply from a 3175 be the same. I can pick these up in the uk but have not seen another 3160. On another note The samsung 300 printer I have keeps cruching up the paper. The paper is being picked up ok, but crunches up at the back. Its not even getting into the fuser unit. I can see no blockages, And occansionally one does get through, so I know its nothing blocking the rollers etc. I can see nothing wrong with the back, and can even compare it to other cpl300 printers I have.

    Any Suggestions

OK - I have purchased a new power board (UK) this time.

I installed it and the printer now works i.e powers up and I can Print scan etc. My problem now is that After about 2 mins I get a beeping and a message "Overheating recycle power" At which point I immediatly turn the printer off. There is also a strange smell coming from the printer I assume this is the fuser unit. Do I also need to replace this or is there some checks that I should carry out to try to fix the problem.

Hmm have just checked that, I have had unit switched off now for 2+weeks just powered on again to try to resolve issue? Now the Printer has different error message, LOW HEAT please cycle power. One minute its to hot and its to cold?

    Any ideas

As per your description you have plugged the printer into 240V power supply instead of 110V as this printer is purchased from US due to which the blown the power supply.
Check the fuse and replace the same if required. Still you are facing the problem, then need to repair/replace the power supply unit for the printer with the help from expert enginner or Service center experts.

FYI, laser printers can consume up to 1000W when operating. Your printer is rated at 350W average.

Actually, you might have blown more than just the power supply - many printers have the fuser unit operating directly from the mains voltage for example.

And no, it won't be easy to swap a power supply - your unit has many additional features compared to a typical printer, so the power supply will be different for sure.
An electronics technician should assess the damage and inform you whether a repair would be feasible.

Samsung CLX-3160FN "scanner locked"

Every Samsung multifunctional device has a scanner lock underneath the glass. This is to prevent scanner damage during shipment. Th user's manual in the CD and the unpacking sheet clearly illustrate where this lock is. If you open the top lid and look to the lower left corner of the glass, you will see a small lock-open/lock-closed symbol. Underneath that symbol you will find the lock. I'm including a small visual reference of a similar model. Just remember to turn off and on the unit after the lock is removed.
