No water going to ice maker. Ice maker is calling for water. 10 volts on plug voltage does not change when I hear it turn on

Hi. Sounds as if you are some what familiar with using a meter for testing circuits. Disconnect at least one lead from the water valve coil and Read across the coil checking for resistance. I should read less than 10 Ohms.

From what I read about you only having 10 volts you have a voltage issue as the coil voltage should read in this range 115 / 120 VAC. The 120 VAC is controlled by an actuation arm that is actuated by a cam lobe inside the icemaker front cover. If the actuating arm is bent or broken the icemaker will cycle but the water valve will never be activated with 120VAC to energize the coil for the duration of the icemaker fill cycle.

If your up to it you can make your own test cord from an old extension or power cord with two female bayonet terminal ends and verify the water valve operation.
Connect the locally made by you test cord female terminals to the water valve and BRIEFLY plug in the cord. The water valve should open when you plug in the cord and shut off when you unplug the test cord.

That is a Whirlpool module type ice maker that seems to have has been so strict with their information I will need to give the manual's another way about a 5 year life span. I have some manuals but because Whirlpool stopped letting people post what they believe is their property. I guess I need to only understand but if I place them here I will lose my subscription. Ice maker quit making ice. What could it be?


Wake up one morning and Boom no ice left in the bin. What happened and What can I do to fix it without calling someone? Some ice makers will get a piece of ice in the wrong place and jam the extraction. Get a hair dryer and heat up the ice maker to release the fouled ice cube and that baby will start going. No water in ice mold?Do this easy test: pour some water in the ice maker mold and wait. Ice maker stopped working


If you manually advance the ice and when the ejector blade reaches 10 oclock that when it calls for water. You should hear the valve come on. If not it could be a bad water valve. Part#2552A or you might want to doublecheck to see if your getting voltage there when the blade reaches 10 oclock. If no voltage then the water switch is bad.
