All you need to do is set the camera to shutter priority other non-automatic mode, hold the flash shut and hold the flash button next to the lens opening. You'll hear a motor and a click and it should latch shut.

If you shoot in the Basic Modes (any of the modes with icons like Portrait, Landscape, Sport, etc), the flash will pop up automatically if there isn't enough ambient light even after pushing it down to close it. To shoot without auto flash, use one of the Creative Modes like P, Av, Tv, M etc. If your problem is that the flash springs back up again when you try to push it down, the catch may be faulty. You may want to consider taking the camera to an authorised Canon repairer.

How do i replace on and off switch on canon 7d

Really, if you have to ask this, please don't try this yourself. If you want to open the camera, and don't have the tools, manuals and skills, you end up with a pile of electronic stuff and not even a technician can make a camera from it. Please contact a Canon Certified repair centre close to you and let them handle this.

Canon 7d serial#1061707382 when was it made

You better ask this in a Canon certified service centre. They do have these details to check warranty claims. If the production date is less then the warranty period, they often don't check your invoice. The first 7D were on the market since 2009.

I have an err 05 with my Canon 7D

The err code 05 says the same, Flash could not pop up. The manual says, switch off the camera and switch on could be this does not change anything. Just a little more chance, when you switch off the camera and remove the battery. And while it is out, just charge the battery. When you replace the battery and the error reoccurs best guess you have to visit the Canon service centre.
Make sure there is no mechanical obstruction, that keeps the flash from popping up.

Auto flash does not pop up on 7D

Does the flash fire? If it fires when closed then it is a mechanical issue with the release mechanism. Probably got something jamming the release. Unfortunately this requires opening the camera. Best to consult your nearest canon dealer if your not confident enough to try yourself.

Err 05 on Canon 7D

The error code is used to tell you the flash could not be raised. Check if anything is blocking the free movement of the pop up flash. First reaction should be, switch the camera off and then on again. Better though, after you switched off the computer remove the battery and charge it first, Then again try everything as before.
The manual says is the error persists, wroth down the error number and contact your nearest Canon Service Centre.

Camera wont turn on but when i take off thelens it turns on

Does the empty battery symbol flash in the top cover LCD when the lens is on? If so, then you may have to replace the bottom board. Pull the bottom cover and see if there are any empty screw holes in the bottom circuit board. As the bottom board contains the lens circuitry and also the flash circuitry, then a loose screw can short out parts of the board when it is also touching on of the flash 300 volt traces. Common problem on the 7D.

I'd like to put Canon EOS 7D video to iPad?

Like the 5D Mark II the 7D shoots H.264 codec. This must be compressed to a smaller size for iPad syncing or converted to a friendly codec for iMovie.

For iPad,

1. Transfer .MOV files to your Mac via USB.

2. Use Canon MOV Compressor to slow the 60fps down to 24 using frame controls.

3. Sync converted movies to iPad via iTunes

For iMovie,

Just convert Canon 7D to AIC for iMovie editing. iMovie supported best video format is AIC Codec MOV format, you can edit video with this format in iMovie smoothly without rendering,

I have a 7D and the flash won't pop up. I've tried putting a fingernail in opening and moving side to side while pushing button but it won't pop up.

you have to take it out of auto mode to have any control over flash, try putting it in P mode then press the flash button which is next to the flash. if this doesn't work, take it back to where you got it from to take a closer look.
