SOURCE: dell batery not charging anymore the bios says

Before you do anything else, try this.
Unplug power cord. Take out battery. Push the power button and hold it in for at least 1-2 minutes. Put the battery & plug back in. Now try it. Dell batteries are often NOT the cause! Often it is in the programing somehow. Resetting as above may fix it. It fixed mine many times for about 6 months, then it won't work now. It also may be the power cord not making proper contact in the plug on the PC. Depending on what works or doesn't, and whether you can afford a new PC if it's the power cord connection, if all else fails, there is a video online , (I believe it's in Dell site, but maybe not), anyway, it shows you every single tiny step to fix the connection. It's cheaper than a new PC, & if you try everything you can think of or find, then if it's just gonna be a dead PC anyway, it sure can't hurt anything at that point, to try to replace that connection. Just be careful & follow the steps exactly. Gee, I hope re-set works! :) Good luck! :) Hey, also check & be sure if the power supply has a switch on the wall also, someone turned off the electricity to my outlet that way once, & I thought sure my PC was doomed. lol@me. :) If you have power from a power strip with 5 or 6 plugs in it, I'm sure you would've thought of checking that already.

Plugged in not charging

Go to Bios setting, by pressing F2 at startup and
check that in the bios Main screen,
AC ADAPTER TYPE = 65W ( or 90W/120W)
if it shows UNKNOWN TYPE,then you need to change the ac adapter,
if its showing 65W /90W or 120W, and still its not charging, then
its motherboard problem

Dell latitude e6410 chargin fault ,will run on dc adapter but shows not chargin ,battery not conected

  1. If the motherboard has ever been replaced, check the service tag section of the BIOS. If it is blank, enter the service tag off the bottom of the system. (The charging circuit will not work without it.)
  2. Also in the BIOS see if the AC adapter is identified or is listed as UNKNOWN. If the system cannot ID the adapter as a Dell Branded AC adapter 90w or larger, then the charger is again disabled. If unknown, check the barrel end of the DC jack of the adapter for the fine wire in the center, if broken or bent, then the adapter is not identified.
  3. Try with a different Dell branded 90w or larger D or E series adapter.
if all the above make no difference, and the Adapter is recognized, the battery may be at fault.
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3743571-long_will_battery_in_portable_computer
if the adapter is unknown, replace the adapter, unless it works normally on another system, and the other system's adapter has the same issue, in that case the motherboard is likely the issue.
Note: a 65w Auto/Air adapter will only charge the battery if the system is OFF

Error code 3600:0749 dell inspiron 1501 . Result is the same if it runs on battery or AC alone (no battery in laptop).

Check the system battery information and charger information of the computer restart the computer, while the computer is booting up, press F2 repeatedly check "battery info"
If it stated ac adapter = unknown device update the BIOS
Click on drivers and downloads
Click or choose by service tag
Download the BIOS and install it on the computer
Check information after updating if same message AC adapter = unknown device; call manufaturer for a replacement AC adapter, if status has changed it is a battery problem or motherboard, contact manufacturer to test battery.

Dell E1705 will not charge aftermarket battery. Is there any work around. AC adapter is ok.

Hi there!

Try to check a few things first.

Go to the BIOS set up, which you can access by pressing f2 when you start up the computer,
Then go to the option that says battery info,
Check if the ac adapter is detected,
And check if the battery is detected,

If any of this things is not detected
Then try this things,
If in the ac adapter it says unknown,
boot to your windows normally
then make sure you still have at least
12% on the battery charge.
Then download the latest flash BIOS
update your BIOS then after you update it,
it should fix your not charging issue and fix the unknown ac adapter if ever that's the case,
But after you do that and the same thing happens,
You'll need to replace the motherboard of that computer.

Hope this helps!

Adapter is plugged in, but not charging for my Dell Inspiron 1526. Any thoughts?

turn on the machine and as soon as you turn on the machine keep on tapping f2 which takes you to BIOS screen, In the system option come to the Battery info and if it is showing battery and shows ac adapter as none it means adapter is faulty if it shows ac adapter type unknown then be prepared to purchase a new system board for your laptop

Battery not charging

this is usually an adapter, battery or mobo failure. Since the same adapter fails, that leaves the battery and motherboard. power on the system without the battery to confirm if the adapter still works. if AC works, try another battery and see if this works. If yes, the battery needs to be replaced. contact dell and check if a replacement is possible if your battery is still within warranty. I beleive dell only warrants battery of laptop for a year from the date your system was originally purchased.
