You can download the Lexmark X1270 drivers from the Lexmark website for free (note: Lexmark X1270 printer works on Windows OS only.) Go to this link: Lexmark X1270 Drivers. Select your operating system by clicking on change OS.
Click on FILTER.
Then click on the Complete driver under Recommended Downloads.
Download, execute the file and follow the instructions on the software.

I suggest not to plug the Lexmark X1270 printer to your computer yet. If you have the installation cd, insert it in your computer and install the software. The software will also show you the steps on how to setup the printer itself. If you don't have the installation cd, here's the link for the available Lexmark X1270 drivers http://bit.ly/9Xw7bN. Choose the driver compatible with your computer's operating system. Download, execute the file and follow the instructions on the software.

While powering on...press and hold the paper feed button....and see what happens....If it prints a test page then....uninstall and reinstall ur lexmark software
For the printer to scan you have to have the Lexmark software installed and running. With the software running all you have to do is hit the scan button software can be found here
The only way to setup the printer without the proper drivers would be to use windows add new printer. However windows does not have lexmark x1270 listed. You can dlownload the software from lexmark & install the software / drivers without using the cd. http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:537:0:0
You need to choose your version of windows to continue.
