Inspiron 1000 doesn't save cmos settings

Hi

As you said that you haven't used the computer for long time then it could be the motherboard which has gone faulty not the HDD or DVD.
Try to use the new HDD with this old motherboard.
Or else you can seek help of Any Geek Squad or computer vendor.

In case if you have any more trouble do contact back in Fixya.
Thank you

I need to replace the cmos battery on my dell inspirion 1000. I know where it goes, I just need a replacement. do you happen to know the battery number. Thanks

Hi rsulsr, the #number of the CMOS battery should be written on the top of the battery. Write down the part / model number and you be able to replace it. Thanks for using Fix' Ya. If this helped, please let me know by giving a "Helpful Rating;" thanks again.

Dell Inspiron 1505; Battery does not charge; DC jack is loose..

The loose connection for the AC adapter means the motherboard needs to be replaced or the AC adapter jack on the motherboard needs to be replaced. (With Labor, it is about the same cost to buy a new motherboard as it is to have the old one fixed)

Motherboards are available on EBay for around $100

DELL 1000 INSPIRON CMOS BATTERY

Should be one of two places on the Dells. Look under the memory cover, if not under the keyboard. If you still can't find it, go to Dell's support site and pull a system diagram. If you haven't already, it's very helpful to know what the bat looks like. Dell uses a few different types.
