Question about Epson STYLUS R350 Photo Printer
I have an Epson Stylus Photo R350. When I try to print (either plain A4, or 6x4 photo paper), the paper part-feeds then stops and I get a paper jam error message. But there is no paper jam whatsoever, no bits of old paper etc in the works. When I then press the Start button as the message directs, the sheet ejects smoothly, then the printer tries to feed another sheet through and the whole procedure starts again. Interestingly, it prints out nozzle check results without any trouble at all! So far as I know I'm doing everything right in terms of feeding the paper in, the printer is level etc. The problem has occurred intermittently in the past but is now full on and throws up the error message every time. Can anybody suggest a solution?
An Epson service man (he was VERY kind to suggest this) told me to use a weak detergent solution on the rollers, NOT alcohol as that will dry out the material the rollers are made of. Although the problem has recurred a couple of times, it's worth repeating when necessary. I actually activate the 'print' command so it tries to feed in paper, while I FIRMLY hold a piece of fine cotton cloth stretched over a thin plastic ruler, which I hold down where the paper feed grabs its paper. The printer has a couple of tries to feed paper, reports an error message (because there was no paper) and I activate it again, thus exposing the WHOLE of the feed wheel to the cleansing cloth! WORTH A TRY!

Well, maybe it's solved, maybe it isn't!! I found that by lightly brushing the rubber rollers with a moist paint brush (I thought they might have been a bit smooth/worn) the paper fed though fine. After 30 mins when the rollers had dried the problem returned! Further work needed here!
