Okay, I have two possible solutions for this. First I am going to go with the fix that applies to most laptops/batteries:

1. Take out the battery
2. Remove power supply (wall charger)
3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds
4. (Don't turn it on yet) Put in the power supply but not the battery
5. Now turn on the laptop and replace the battery.

If this is the fix, you should be able to remove the power supply and it should run off the battery from this point forward. If not...

Your laptop (the EasyNote R1938/5) is notorious for overheating. To make sure this is the problem in your case, can you tell me if your computer does any of the following?

- The bottom of the case gets very hot
- The bottom of the case gets got too fast
- The laptop restarts/shuts off randomly without warning
- The laptop is performing terribly
- Computer boots but turns off almost instantly!

If so, try the following:

1.) Find a nice large space on a table, set down a towel (so you don't scratch the table or the laptops cosmetics) and place the laptop face down.

2.) Looking at the under belly of the R1938 you should see the locks to remove the battery, move them away from the batter and push the battery away from the laptop to release it.

3.) Now that the battery is removed, lets get to work. You should be able to see 4 removable panels on this underside of the laptop. The largest with 3 screws holding it down at one end is the one we need to remove to get to the issue!

Once removed you are now staring at the cooling for your CPU.

4.) Carefully remove the 3 silver screws holding it down and slot it out of the laptop, you can disconnect it if you wish but I found no need to. first of all blow ALL the dust out of the fan, out of the heat sink and from around the surrounding area of the laptop. Now if Packard Bell has made the mistake they have made on the 12 Easy Notes a friend has done this to, you will notice a sticker covering the bottom of the end the heatsink flaps and a sticker over a hole on the side of the fan, remove both of these. If you like you can also add a wee dob of Thermal Compound to the CPU and now put the Hs/f back onto of the CPU and gently tighten down evenly on each screw. (if you disconnected the Hs/f make sure you reconnect it to the board!).

5.) Close the panel back up and screw it back down.

I really hope this helps you. If not, please feel free to reply to this or message me and I will assist you as much as possible.

Need BIOS password for Packard Bell R1938 notepad

If you don't know the password, you will need to make an BIOS reset. You must open your laptop, and find the internal battery in the motherboard. Take it off, for 10 seconds, without any power cable or battery on. After that, put the internal battery in his place, and turn on your laptop. It must open the BIOS without password needed.

Packard bell easynote r1938 laptop powers on then turns off

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

How do I know if my packard bell easynote R4250 is dead?

If the laptop is more than two years old. Time to replace the battery. The power meter is not a reliable way of seeing a bad battery. If just one of the cells in the battery is bad it will not run your laptop , and the meter still would show 100%
