Question about Brother P-Touch 1900 Label Printer

CHR SIZE AUTO?

This is driving me crazy. Whenever I want to print something, it says "CHR SIZE AUTO?" and it won't let me say 'No." If I say yes and let it print, it's not the size I want. So, I'm stuck with labels that have super small print.

How do I change the size? I've been changing the size, but it keeps on going back to the small size that I don't want.

Please help.

Thanks,
Katy

The exact same thing is happening to me. I've tried changing the batteries, clearing the memory - nothing works.

It used to work just fine, printed any size combination I wanted...

Help! The machine was too expensive to just have to tolerate this!

I hold down Code button and hit size and it scrolled over the sizes 1-5 til I got to 5, and the arrow was on Size 5, but it printed small.

Press the Return button and the machine will automatically print the size the tape will allow! :) Title:
What does the error message "CHR SIZE AUTO?" mean? Description:This message appears when the selected character size is too large for the width of the tape cassette installed.

You have the following options:

  • Press the "Print" or "Return" key to allow the P-touch machine to automatically select the maximum character size that fits the tape width.

  • Press the "BS" key to clear the message, and then install a wider tape cassette.

  • Press the "BS" key to clear the message, and then select a smaller character size by following these steps:

    1. While holding the "Code" key, press the "Size" key. The display will show the current character size.

    2. Keep the "Code" key held, and press the "Size" key until the desired size is displayed.
If you select "AUTO", the P-touch machine will automatically adjust the character size to the largest possible size.

    3. Release the "Code" to apply the setting.

If you have the correct size tape installed and still get the error message, please try removing the cassette from the machine and reinstalling it. Also, check that the tape cassette is seated firmly in the compartment.

Note
The following table shows the maximum character size that can be used with each tape width.

    Tape Width Maximum Character Size 1/4" (6 mm) 12 points 3/8" (9 mm) 18 points 1/2" (12 mm) 24 points 3/4" (18 mm) 42 points

THis didn't work. The tape is 1/2" wide, I've reinstalled it numerous times, turned the machine on

I had the same frustrating problem. Teeny tiny font on a 1/4 in tape.

I downloaded and installed the correct software for my label maker.

There is a seperate install for the correct drivers (be sure not to connect your lable maker to the computer until they tell you to do so during
the install).

Everything works fine when using the label maker through the software - and the software is very intuitive.

Brother REALLY needs to fix this glitch!

I am having the same problem - a week ago it was printing fine at different sizes on the same tape that is in now. I am beyond frustrated with this - did you ever get any resolution?

Before printing try using print preview first and adjust yur settings from there. Or go into control panel select printers and reset to default settings, restart your computer and try again. Good luck.

The default paper height is 12". If you want to change it to 11" you should refer to printer manual and follow the steps. Otherwise if you are using a software for printing. Ask your developer to give following command for setting paper height

Chr(27) + Chr(67) + Chr(0) + Chr(11)

Define "It".

What emulation are you using, PCL - PCL-XL - PostScript?

Can you please put the entire fontcall command into this item so that I can see the command structure?

Press "Line Out" to remove return character, It thinks you want to print on more than one line so is making font smaller to fit. Good luck.
