Re: dvd screen not working in 04 chrysler pacifica
Sounds like youve put tooo much voltage through the player. A standard car battery is 12Volts, this is uped to 13.5Volts whilst engine is running. When you jump a car this can increase to over 20Volts fr a brief second.
I suggest taking it out of the car, and if its under warranty, you can return it for a repair.

Most units have a safety feature that prevents you from seeing the screen while driving but you should still be able to operate cd /am/fm radio. Does any of that work? When the screen blacks out or goes blue you should still be able to hear dvd sound but if it just closes and the screen retracts you may have an internal problem with unit.If it is brand new return it for an exchange and go from there. If it used you may have got a damaged unit. I hope this helps you and remember to be careful when you get it going as I was an installer for years and owned my own stereo shop and When I installed my first dvd player in my personal vehicle,I took it out because I almost had a couple of accidents. You think cell phones distract drivers, just wait until you put a movie in while driving and you will soon learn no one is immune from distraction.Good Luck !
If it's a Rosen dvd player the dvd will need to be put in the unit itself & not the unit in the dashboard! The dvd player mounted in the head ligning is a seperate unit from the stereo system fitted in your dashboard!
Sounds to me like you are putting a dvd into the dashboard stereo system which will play any audio through the car speakers...
Put a dvd into the Rosen unit itself & i am sure you will get a picture on the drop down screen! Remember that as far as i know all Rosen dvd players transmit the sound from the dvd to infra red headphones that should be included! Remember to check the batteries if you still can't hear any sound as they run down quick if the headphones are left on!
in order to see the movie you have to first push the foot brake, then engage the parking brake, then while continuing to push the foot brake, release and re-engage the parking brake. that should get the movie going.
