If you are wanting to access your PSP via a USB cable, then you don't need a driver. go to your PSP's system settings and select USB connection (connect the cable to the PC and PSP prior to this) and allow windows to install the generic drivers.

XP will recognise this as a Removable Storage Device (just like an external hard drive or Flash drive). Are you wanting to add files to the memory or just take a backup of current files?

you can try Sony Creative Software Downloads, or perhaps checking with local gaming stores as they may have what you are looking for.

When I plug my PSP (type A) into my PC (Windows XP

Make sure you follow these steps, this will allow the PC to recognize the PSP:

First make sure you have a USB cable that looks like this:

Then do this:
  1. Connect the mini connector to the top of your PSP and the other end of the cable into a USB slot on your PC. For the best perfornance, connect your PSP to a USB 2.0 slot.
  2. Make sure the PSP is on.
  3. Scroll to the 'Settings' menu by pressing the left arrow on the PSP.
  4. Select 'USB Connection' using the up and down arrows on the control pad.
  5. Press the 'X' button.
  6. Your PC should detect the PSP device, and show it in Explorer as a new drive (for example, 'F:').

Psp connection issue

Hi,

Alright, this is a pretty easy fix. Please excuse the incompetent. Well, firstly, affirm that you are not utilizing a limited account on Windows XP and that you have administrative privileges. Then:

1. Go to Start
2. Go to All programs
3. Go to Accessories
4. Go to System, if its not there and exactly says SYSTEM, look for it in System Tools
5. Go to Hardware
6. Go to Device Manager
7. Look around for anything that has an X or anything of that sort and if you come across something regarding USB, or PSP, right click it and click enable. If it is enabled, click reinstall drivers.

From there, your PSP will be recognized and identified and you will be capable of utilizing your PSP and computer simultaneously to the fullest extent for complete enjoyment.

PC doesnt recongize my memory stick as a formatted memory stick...

Do both systems run XP? Also, check the driver files on your PC, and test it with another card of the same make. Is the write-protection switch set to on? Test the card reader with other formats of cards, if it is a multiple reader, just to make sure that it is functioning at all.
