Question about Televison & Video
I have a JVC Color television, model AV-27870. Recently the TV image has degraded to a single horizontal thin bar in the middle of the screen. When the problem first started, the image would degrade and colapse to the horizontal thin bar after about 30 minutes of use. The problem now appears immediately when the set is turned on. I have the same problem with the image when using the VCR. The audio works fine. Can you help identify the problem and possible repair?
Sounds like you have shorted or open Vertical Filter Capacitors. ( you may also have a bad vertical drive chip now since you've waited to replace the capacitors). You'll need to replace the bad capacitor/s and if the problem doesn't go away, replace the chip also. And as always, check for any cold solder joints ( bad lead connections to the printed circuit board ) as you replace the bad components.
I Hope this has helped.
