Question about Soltek SL-86SPE2 Motherboard

1 Answer

Sl-86spe-l !! I think the 5 V has a problem, condensators is broken in the top. Comp. will not start. Would like to get an other board, if possible. I have 2.4 GHertz P4 and 2 memoryblocks to go 800 MHz FSB. Where/how can I get it? I live in Denmark, Copenhagen. Regards, Jan.Schnohr@yahoo.dk

Thank you, of course it´s capacitor that has "grown" bigger and I think 12 pcs. It happened after a ´no load´ situation (no ad on boards, no memory) recommended from a computer expert (??) that should help solving another problem. It was a very fast, self-made computer, that was used for very hard and long works. I have used a local paper used computers.

Remark: There is 4 seperate IDE-controllers, so 2 DVD and 2 HD can work very fast together, not depending on an other unit on the same line. The FSB on 800 MHz moves data fast from / to the fast (CL2,0 400 MHz) memory, onboard LAN, 4 x USB, sound and the fast chip-set Intel 865. The cabinet and powersupply also works here. At last I HAVE the Intel P4 2,4 GHz CPU and 2 blocks of CL2,0 high quality CU-cooled memory. There is no money for a lot of new investments that is not necessary.

But an other board having the same elements would do the job as well. Any ideas?

(I tried to push Helpful, but it did´nt work)

    Regards Jan.

I doubt there's anything you can do actually, short of finding an identical "condensator" [you meant capacitor, right?], and then soldering it onto the old one's contacts. Still, this is a doubtful "solution".

Finding a new Socket478-based Motherboard these days would be a fool's errand as well: they are nowhere to be found... Buying a new one - on the remote chance you managed to find one - is a questionable investment.

I suggest you look for used one's, in your local version of "craig's list" [newspaper or website with people selling used or new stuff] or Ebay.

If it will help you could alway add a PCI nic card to the system. (Supported by Vista).

If I could find your manual, I would bet that your memory should be CL2 or a max of CL2.5 which is the core voltage of the memory.

A lot of places do not show the CAS or CL voltage, rather they make you look for it. Thats just wrong.

865PE-775G and hang in loading windows

its most probably a problem with the windows installation itself, u can either reinstall the windows or there's a better solution but its kinda hard: you have to keep clicking the F8 button when u start your pc, a list will appear, so choose "safe mode" and not any other option, after the windows start you will find a screen asking u if u want to contine in safe mode or if u want to restore system to a previous point, if u click "no" u'll start the system restoration program from which u choose the last time ur windows was working properly and click "restore system to this point" and after that the system will start the restoration procedure and after the restart u'll see if it worked or not, if it didn't then installing a new windows is the only option since there isn't any connection between the motherboard or hardware with the operationg system except if the motherboard doesn't support this operating system.

My computer won't start?!

well if ytou were already using ur PC then may be the last time ur PC was improperly shutdown. this can cause many mail functions.
now 1st thing to do is remove all the hardware and just leave the Processor, Memory & Graphic card if Any. then start the PC if its power on then Motherboard is OK if wont then Dis Assemble all The parts and then assemble again and try as mention above if it still wont work then may b ur chipset of the board friedd out that you cant visually say its fried.
